In the early days their work included mainly covers from acts like Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, and other synthpop legends.
Three years later (and after gaining serious proficiency on Cubase while attempting to write their own material) the friends were introduced to Lars who was just finishing school and coincidentally was looking to perform some songs at his own graduation party. That’s how they decided to join forces and seize the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience. And so they did... they had their first chance to play covers of songs from Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, REM, and even their own music!
They enjoyed their first gig so much that they decided to continue working together and write brand new material.
As time passed by, Drazen and Lars seemed to artistically connect, they would spend nights playing REM and brit-pop covers, and as they continued collaborating the project began to turn a bit more acoustic, with a much greater emphasis on guitar sounds... This may have prompted Drazen's friend to leave the band in June 1995 to start a project of his own.
It was a turning point for Perfidious Words. Drazen and Lars had to pull all their resources together in order to begin making their own recordings. They worked hard to attain the electronic equipment that allowed them to produce their first demos.
The first demos emerged in 1996, and the band did not waste any time in submitting them to as many record companies as they could. The feedback was tremendous. That is why Trisol Music Group, which was one of the first record labels to respond, signed them immediately.
And so in 1997 they finally were able to records their first EP ‚Ruined’ which was released in October of that year. Several CDs were released after that from 1998 to 2000, including 'It means a lot to me', 'Welt', and 'Zwischen Zeitrausch und Leben'.
In 2001 the sold-out 'Hydrogen Skies' was re-released as 'Hydrogen Skies+', containing bonus material such as b-sides and remixes of previous hits.
Four years after the release of their debut CD their eagerly awaited second album 'Spreading Silence' followed in April 2002. The quality of their music, insightful lyrics, their creativity and powerful melodies are the cause of the continuous growth of their fan base around the globe.
After a long period their next strike was finished. In September 2003 Perfidious Words released their mini-album 'Breaking The Silence' which included remixes by Infekktion, Tom Wax, Sero.Overdose, B!Machine, and many more. It also featured a new track in various versions and a Björk remake.
And the best is yet to come...
The story continues.
Stay
Perfidious Words Lyrics

Is the harsh truth
Causing so much pain
As we walk together
In silence
Know we won't feel the same
And find some
Some joy and peace again
Pass my torch's fire
Be sanguine
It will keep you warm
Oh stay with me
I cannot move
Stay with me
Wallowing in sadness
You'll remember
That time will heal your wounds
The world is your oyster
You have always
Walked on the sunny roads
Oh stay with me
I cannot move
Stay with me
Sing me to sleep
We've come so far
But we can't take
The same way home
No, there's no more time for us
Oh stay with me
I cannot move
Stay with me
Sing me to sleep
Stay with me
The lyrics to Perfidious Words's song Stay speaks to the theme of separation, heartbreak, and the struggle of letting go. The first lines, "Written on the paper, is the harsh truth, causing so much pain," alludes to the difficulty of accepting the truth, which is the cause of the heartache. The couple walks together in silence, knowing that things will never be the same again, and this is emphasized by the last lines, "We've come so far, but we can't take the same way home, no, there's no more time for us." It is an evident indication that they are on divergent paths.
The chorus, "Oh stay with me, I cannot move, stay with me, sing me to sleep," underscores the yearning of one partner to hold on to the other even though separation is imminent. The partner who is asking for the other to stay understands the pain of the one leaving and is willing to endure it yet, they are still grappling with the new reality that they will soon be alone.
The verse, "While I sleep, you'll move on and find some, some joy and peace again, Pass my torch's fire, be sanguine, it will keep you warm," is a sad acknowledgment that the other person will eventually move on, and they must still do so with hope and assurance of a better tomorrow. Overall, the song Stay depicts the pain of heartbreak and the challenge of letting go while still holding on to hope for the future.
