Tryin' to forget my,
Feelings of love
Teardrops, rollin' down on my face,
Tryin' to forget my,
Feelings of love
I wish I'd never met you girl,
You'll never come again
(You'll never come again, never, never! )
Feelings, oh, oh,, oh feelings,
Oh feel you,
Again in my arms( Again, again)
(Feelings, feelings like I've never lost you,
And feelings like I've never held you again in my arms!)
Feelings, for all my life I'll feel it,
I wish I'd never met you girl,
You'll never come again
( You'll never come again, never, never!)
Feelings, oh, oh, oh, feelings,
Oh, oh, oh, feel you,
Again in my arms (Again, again!)
Again in my arms!
Perry Como's song "Feelings" is a beautifully written ballad about attempting to move on from a past love. The lyrics describe a deep sense of emotion and the struggles that arise when trying to forget past feelings of love. The song begins by acknowledging that "Feelings" are nothing more than just that - a feeling, an emotion that can be fleeting and difficult to understand. Como describes the act of "trying" to forget his feelings, implying that it isn't an easy task. He then goes on to express his sadness in the form of teardrops rolling down his face because he wishes he could forget the love he once felt.
As the song progresses, the lyrics suggest that the feeling of love will forever be a part of Como's life. By stating "for all my life I'll feel it," he implies that no matter what he does, these feelings will never completely fade away. He mourns the fact that he wishes he never met this girl, so he wouldn't have to experience the pain of her leaving. The chorus repeats the phrase "feelings, oh oh oh feelings" to emphasize the overwhelming emotional experience he is describing.
The final line of the song repeats the phrase "again in my arms," perhaps indicating that he wishes he could experience this love again. The song portrays a heart-breaking struggle with letting go of past emotions, and the ultimate realization that some feelings may never truly go away.
