(1) Pete Rodriguez (born 1932) was a 60's Boogaloo artist, known as "El Rey Del Boogaloo," or
"The Boogaloo King." His group was Pete Rodríguez y Su Conjunto.
His 1966 hit "I Like It Like That" came to wider recognition when used as promo music in Odeon cinemas. The song gained another huge increment in recognition when it was used as the basis of "I Like It," a big hit for Cardi B in 2018.

He now resides in Austin, TX.

Los amantes de la música latina están de luto con la muerte del pianista y director de orquesta Pete Rodríguez, el “rey del boogaloo”, ritmo que reinó en salones de baile en Nueva York entre los años 1963 y 1969. “Con gran pesar compartimos el fallecimiento del gran pianista y líder de la banda, Pete Rodríguez. El mundo ha perdido a un increíble artista latino cuya música seguirá influyendo en las generaciones venideras”, indicó el sello Fania en un comunicado en su cuenta de Instagram, en el que ofrece sus condolencias a su familia y amigos. Rodríguez, que nació en El Bronx en 1932 de padres puertorriqueños, murió el lunes a los 92 años, tras una larga y exitosa carrera que comenzó en 1954 con su orquesta La Magnífica. Uno de los éxitos más sonados de este artista y un clásico que ha sido interpretado por muchos es “I Like It Like That” (A mí me gusta así), incluido en el disco del mismo nombre y publicado en 1966 bajo el grupo Pete Rodríguez y su Conjunto. Ese álbum incluyó además “Micaela”, “Soy el rey” y “Pete’s Madness”, entre otros.
