I remember when, when I first moved here,
When I first arrived in this place, I remembered hearing a certain song that took me back to a long time ago.

A long time ago,
Refers to a distant past.

'cause I heard some song I used to hear back then,
That song reminded me of a similar one I used to listen to.

A lone time ago,
Refers to an even earlier time.

I remember when, even further back,
This is a recollection from another town, from a time long gone.

In another town,
A reference to a different place.

'cause I saw something written I used to say back then,
Something I read took me back to something I used to say in the past.

Hard to comprehend
It was difficult to make sense of that memory.

And the question is, was I more alive
The question is whether I felt more alive in the past than I do now.

Then than I am now?
Comparing the past to the present.

I happily have to disagree;
I strongly disagree with that notion.

I laugh more often now, I cry more often now,
I experience a range of emotions more frequently now.

I am more me.
I feel more like myself now.

But of cause some days, I just lie around
However, there are days when I feel idle and unproductive.

And hardly exist,
Feeling detached from the present moment.

And can't tell apart what I'm eating
Losing sense of what I'm doing or even what I'm eating.

From my hand or my wrist.
Feeling disconnected from my own body.

'cause flesh is flesh, flesh as flesh as flesh,
Despite being made of the same matter, the difference lies in how we experience life.

The difference is thin.
The distinction between things can be nuanced.

But life has a certain ability or breathing new
Life is capable of revitalizing us.

Life into me,
Giving us energy and vitality.

So I breathe it in.
I embrace life and its opportunities.

It says here we are, and we all are here,
We are all present, and it's important to acknowledge that.

And you still can make sense,
You can still find meaning in life.

If you just show up and present an honest face,
Honesty and being true to ourselves is important in our interactions with others.

Instead of that grin.
Rather than putting on a facade or hiding one's true emotions.

And the other day, this new friend of mine
A recent acquaintance said something insightful to me.

Said something to me
Shared some wisdom with me.

"just because something starts differently,
Things that start off differently aren't necessarily inferior.

Doesn't mean it's worth less."
The value of something doesn't depend solely on how it started.

And I soaked it in, how I soaked it in,
I took that wisdom to heart and internalized it.

How I soaked it in
Emphasizing how much it resonated with me.

And just as to prove how right he was,
Coincidentally, something happened that demonstrated the truth in what he said.

Then you came.
Referring to someone who contributed to that realization.

So I'm gonna give, yes I'm gonna give,
I'm willing to open myself up to new experiences.

I'm gonna give you a try,
Willing to give someone or something a chance.

So I'm gonna give, yes I'm gonna give,
Repeating that willingness.

I'm gonna give you a try
Taking a risk and trying something new or unknown.
