Peter James Hollens (Born March 4, 1982 in Ashland, OR) is an acappella mus… Read Full Bio ↴Peter James Hollens (Born March 4, 1982 in Ashland, OR) is an acappella musician from Eugene, Oregon, U.S. He is well-known for his acappella covers, such as Rihanna's What's My Name? / Only Girl and Katy Perry's Firework, which were released in 2011.

He is a graduate of the University of Oregon where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance. During his collegiate years he co-founded UO's premier men's a cappella group “On the Rocks” and most recently appeared with the group on NBC's The Sing-Off. When Peter isn't off performing or recording collegiate a cappella and works out of his home studio, Peter Hollens Productions.

Peter Hollens has been involved with music throughout the Northwest and beyond performing in such venues as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the Beacon Theatre in NYC. Originally from Ashland, Peter graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal performance, where he co-founded the U of O's award-winning male a cappella group On the Rocks. Since his time with the group he has become very involved with collegiate a cappella, recording, producing & judging international competitions both along the West Coast and in New York City.

When I was in hs, we sang this song multiple times throughout my 4 years, but instead in the key of G (which I still prefer!). It is so powerful in such a large group like we had. Still gives me chills listening to it. My mom doesn’t even like choir music, but this piece she loved. She claimed it sounded like it arrived straight from Broadway :)

This must be Hollens' most-watched video. Which means he needs to do more like it. I know he's done a lot of videogame themes, but I think that's only part of the attraction here. He needs something both complex and uplifting. Not sure what exactly, but I think if he can strike that balance with another pick he'd hit gold. Hello good day, just want to clarify with the pronunciation of "tu" in "yetu".. most videos in youtube pronounced it or sound like a "tshu or choo", is it accurate? or is it pronounced as a hard T like "tour"? It bothers me everytime I hear it. My choral group is planning to sing another arrangement and we tend to master it with accuracy from accent down to pronunciation. Thanks

There needs to be something more than a thumbs up i can give this song. Peter and Malukah are an amazing voice pair. I still come back to this song on a fairly regular basis. So amazing. Props to Christopher Tin for coming up with the song version and to Peter and Malukah for perfecting it.
