Despite His sacrifice, many people rejected Him and did not accept His gift of salvation.

On the cross as Christ died,

The wrath of God was satisfied
The death of Christ satisfied God's wrath against sin.

For every sin on Him was laid
Christ bore every sin for every person on His body.

Here in the death of Christ I live
Through the death of Christ, I have eternal life.

There in the ground His body lay
After He died, Christ's body was placed in a tomb.

Light of the world by darkness slain
Christ, who was the light of the world, was killed by darkness (sin).

Then bursting forth in glorious day
Christ rose from the grave on the glorious resurrection day.

Up from the grave he rose again
Christ defeated death and rose from the dead.

And as He stands in victory
In His victory over death, Christ stands triumphantly.

Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
Through Christ's victory over sin, the grip of the curse of sin on me has been broken.

For I am His and He is mine
I belong to Christ and He belongs to me.

Bought with the precious blood of Christ
Christ purchased my redemption with His own precious blood.

In Christ alone I place my trust
I have complete trust in Christ alone.

And find my glory in the power of the cross
I glory in the cross of Christ and its transformative power.
