1. Shoegazers Pia Fra… Read Full Bio ↴There are two bands performing with this name:
1. Shoegazers Pia Fraus started in 1998 in Tallinn, Estonia when six art school students (Kärt Ojavee, Kristel Loide, Rein Fuks, Tõnis Kenkmaa, Reijo Tagapere, and Joosep Volk) came together. Their first gig was in spring 1999.
After some concerts they started recording their first album Wonder What It's Like which was released in spring 2001 by themselves. Then they sent some demos to different labels and the next full-length album (In Solarium) was released under Clairecords (Sacramento, CA, United States) in summer 2002. Kristel Loide left the band and Eve Komp replaced her. Before the release of their next album, Margus Voolpriit replaced Joosep Volk. In autumn 2003 Clairecords released Plastilina EP which included tracks from Wonder What It's Like. At the beginning of 2004 Vinyl-Junkie released In Solarium with bonus tracks in Japan. In September later that year Mooie Island EP was released under their own label SekSound. In spring 2005 Vinyl-Junkie Recordings released compilation CD Sailing On A Grapefruit Lake in Japan which also includes two videos. Winter 2006 saw the birth of Pia Fraus's next LP Nature Heart Software released by SekSound.
2. A belgian industrial band formed in Aartrijke. They have 2 CDs. The band split in 2006 not long after the second cd was released
No Need for Sanity
Pia Fraus Lyrics

You'll understand the perfectness I need
Make my way from hollow
From the maze I'm sick and tired of…
Fill your mind with blaze that makes you warble
Trying to compete with present day
Do we still need sanity
…perfectness I need.
The opening lines of Pia Fraus's song No Need for Sanity seem like an invitation for someone to join on a journey of complete understanding. It's almost like the singer is asking the listener to take their hand, and see things from their perspective. They speak of needing a "perfectness" that perhaps only they can discern, and they hope that by taking the listener along with them, it will all make sense.
The next set of lines appear to be spoken in frustration. The singer is tired of feeling lost, of being trapped in a "maze". They speak of needing to make their way out of that hollow place, perhaps reaching for something more fulfilling, more concrete. They seem to be looking for a way out of a mental and emotional struggle, and hoping that by sharing their perspective with the listener, they will both find a way out of the maze together.
The chorus is an interesting shift in tone. The singer asks if we still need sanity, questioning whether maintaining a sense of order and logic is truly necessary. Instead, they suggest letting go of all borders, and embracing a more chaotic, unbounded way of viewing the world. It's almost as if they are advocating for a more freeform way of thinking, one that is not constrained by societal norms or expectations.
