BEAT IT
Pierce the Veil Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Don't wanna see your face, you better disappear
The fire's in their eyes and their words are really clear
So beat it, just beat it
You better run, you better do what you can
Don't wanna see no blood, don't be a macho man
You wanna be tough, better do what you can
Just beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky and strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right
Just beat it, beat it
Just beat it, beat it
Just beat it, beat it
Just beat it, beat it
They're out to get you, better leave while you can
Don't wanna be a boy, you wanna be a man
You wanna stay alive, better do what you can
So beat it, just beat it
You have to show them that you're really not scared
You're playin' with your life, this ain't no truth or dare
They'll kick you, then they beat you,
Then they'll tell you it's fair
So beat it, but you wanna be bad
Just beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky and strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right
Just beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it
Beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it
Beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky and strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right
Just beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky and strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right
Just beat it.
The lyrics to Pierce the Veil's song Beat It seem to be a commentary on the tough guy mentality and the societal pressure to conform. The repeated phrase "beat it" seems to be an encouragement for the listener to stand up for themselves and fight back against those who would oppress them. The song tells the story of someone who is being threatened and bullied by a group of people, who are urging him to leave and not come back. However, the singer urges him to stay, to stand up for himself, and to fight back against his oppressors.
The lyrics also touch on issues of masculinity and power, with lines like "You wanna be tough, better do what you can" and "You wanna be a man, you gotta take a stand." However, the message seems to be that true strength comes from standing up for oneself and refusing to be cowed by those who seek to exert power over others.
Overall, the lyrics to Beat It are a powerful call to arms for anyone who has felt oppressed or bullied. They urge the listener to stand up for themselves, to fight back against their oppressors, and to never give in to fear or intimidation. The song is a powerful anthem of resistance and strength, one that has resonated with listeners for years.
