Keitaro: well, today
As usual we have
A special guest.
A wonderful guest
Has agreed to come here today.
He's an artist.
The pictures you saw
On the screen
Before are his.
Please a big applause
To a great poet
And a great photographer
Ladies and gentlemen, mr genqui numata.

numata: hi, y'all.
My name is genqui numata.
Tonight I will
Read
A poem.
I dedicate this poem
To pizzicato five.
To a person descending a staircase.

hey you, who are descending this staircase
With sweat on your brow
Afraid of going down you let your gaze
Glide down the stairs like a shadow.
Yes, you.
This underpass in springtime smells of dust
And a lukewarm breeze blows by.
Keep up your rhythm
Keep up your rhythm
And climb down those stairs
As if your life depended on that.
Pass by that leaning building
Kick the dogs away
Kick the cats too
And go fast to the ticket counter.
Legs
Are sometimes
Independent beings.
Keep up your rhythm
Keep up your rhythm
And when you can't take it anymore
When your body
And your legs have reached their limit
At that time
A soft fall will ensue.
You feel as if
Your legs fell off your body
Or maybe there's a pause
Like a heart attack
But you don't know what it is.

you don't
Know.
You gradually
Gather up speed
And as you speed up your legs
And your trembling lips start to resonate.
The fall comes at the last moment
And makes it easier.
And you ask yourself
Who are we?
Who am I
After al?
Your joints squeak
Am I nothing but
A crawling work of art?
Am I nothing but
A voice sounding away
Across this sky
So blue it looks like it's been dyed?
Am I nothing but
The speed of
This fall through thin air?
Shadow that melts away
Voice that dies away
Voice from the subway
Keep up your rhythm
Keep up your rhythm
With grace
With flair
Hey you, legs,
Hey you, my distant legs
Let's go on a stroll
As the silent time goes by
The city silently

Opens itself.
Goodbye.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Poet Reading" by Genqui Numata, as interpreted in this Pizzicato Five song, describe a special guest, a renowned artist, who has been invited to read a poem. The artist is introduced as a great poet and photographer, and the pictures displayed on the screen before were his creations. The audience is encouraged to applaud and show appreciation for this talented artist.

The poem that the artist, Genqui Numata, is about to read is dedicated to Pizzicato Five. The focus of the poem is on a person descending a staircase. The lyrics address this person directly, mentioning their sweat and fear as they navigate the stairs, their gaze gliding down like a shadow. The atmosphere is described as a dusty underpass in spring, with a gentle breeze blowing. The person is urged to maintain their rhythm and continue descending the stairs as if their life depends on it. The lyrics also mention encountering a leaning building, kicking away dogs and cats, and rushing to the ticket counter.

The song then delves into a deeper exploration of the experience of descending stairs. The legs are described as sometimes feeling like independent beings, and the person is encouraged to keep up their rhythm. As their body and legs reach their limits, there is a soft and gentle fall, where it feels as if their legs have detached from their body, or maybe there is a pause, like a heart attack. The person is left uncertain about this experience.

The lyrics then shift to a contemplation of identity and existence. The person, still in the context of descending the stairs, questions who they are. They wonder if they are nothing more than a crawling work of art or a voice resonating across the sky. The lyrics emphasize the blue sky and the feeling of being dyed by it. The person also questions if they are just the speed of the fall through thin air. Shadows and voices are mentioned, along with the rhythmic sound of the subway. The legs are urged to keep up their rhythm and continue with grace and flair.

The song concludes with a farewell, as the lyrics bid goodbye to the audience and imply that the city silently opens itself up as time passes. The overall interpretation of these lyrics suggests a contemplation of identity, existence, and artistic expression within the framework of descending a staircase.

Rumi: The Great Mystery (Sufi Poem) ♫

" Inside the Great Mystery that is.
we don`t really own anything.
What is this competion we feel then ?
Before we go, one at a time, through the same gate ?
If you`ve opened your loving to God`s love,
You`re helping people you don`t know
and have never seen.
Is what I say true ? Say "Yes "quickly
If you know , if you`ve known it
from before the beginning of the universe "

Ovdje, u Velikoj tajni postojanja,
mi zapravo ništa nemamo.
Čemu onda to nadmetanje

🙏💙❤️💘Maestro Rumi
