Lemon Tree
Post Malone Lyrics

I tried with all my might
I thought I knew what you want
It isn't all that nice
But I guess it will suffice
It's hard to know what you want
A little less sour?
We're rottin' by the hour
And my heart's rotten too
And every film I watch
I'm on the side of the bad guy
So turn around and show me that I'm better
Some people got an apple
Some people got a tangerine
Look around and all I see
Is people happy with what they're given
Life is pretty sweet, I'm told
I guess I'm shit outta luck
Growin' a lemon tree
I'm gonna burn it down
And grow me somethin' better, yeah, yeah
Blood on my hands, I'm on the fence
I double down
I swing and I miss, a kick in the ribs
In trouble now
Came from the dirt, back in the ground
When I die
But I'ma survive, I got my own ways, oh-oh
Could you be
A little less sour?
We're rottin' by the hour
And my heart's rotten too
And every film I watch
I'm on the side of the bad guy
So turn around and show me that I'm better
Some people got an apple (some people got)
Some people got a tangerine (some people got a tangerine, oh-oh, yeah, yeah)
Look around and all I see
Is people happy with what they're given
Life is pretty sweet, I'm told (I'm told)
I guess I'm shit outta luck
Growin' a lemon tree (growin' a lemon tree)
I'm gonna burn it down
And grow me somethin' better, yeah, yeah
(And grow me somethin' better)
(And grow me somethin' better)
(And grow me somethin' better)
Couldn't fall asleep all night
I struggled to fall asleep and was awake all night
I tried with all my might
I made an effort to sleep, but it didn't work
I thought I knew what you want
I believed I understood your desires
It isn't all that nice
The situation is not pleasant
But I guess it will suffice
However, it will have to do
It's hard to know what you want
Understanding your desires is challenging
Could you be
A little less sour?
Can you be less negative?
We're rottin' by the hour
And my heart's rotten too
We are deteriorating quickly, and my emotions reflect that
And every film I watch
I'm on the side of the bad guy
Regardless of the story, I find myself sympathizing with the villain
So turn around and show me that I'm better
Prove to me that I can be superior
Some people got an apple
Some people got a tangerine
Some individuals have good fortune, while others are not as lucky
Look around and all I see
Is people happy with what they're given
Everyone seems content with their lot in life
Life is pretty sweet, I'm told
I guess I'm shit outta luck
Growin' a lemon tree
Although life may be good, I am stuck with bad luck and undesirable circumstances
I'm gonna burn it down
And grow me somethin' better, yeah, yeah
I will destroy what brings me unhappiness and cultivate something more favorable
Blood on my hands, I'm on the fence
I double down
I am unsure and indecisive, yet I take risks in spite of it
I swing and I miss, a kick in the ribs
In trouble now
I make mistakes and suffer the consequences
Came from the dirt, back in the ground
When I die
But I'ma survive, I got my own ways, oh-oh
I came from humble beginnings and will return to them one day. Despite that, I will overcome challenges in my own unique fashion

I’ve noticed over the years there’s always that one acoustic song Post makes that always stands out from the rest of the album (‘Feeling Whitney’, ‘Stay’, etc). And it’s usually one of the more heart felt songs that’s absolutely incredible. Love this one.
@andrewkowalski9645
same here. When I read the title to this track, I had a gut feeling it would be a vulnerable song like stay
@connieathemile3198

He talks about this on First We Feast. He explains it best. He found his rhythm again and this your spot on. The drum beats kicks in this is it!
