Although unclear whether he is addressing a past lover or his own fans, Austin discusses themes of self-reflection, regret, emotional vulnerability and sacrifice.
In an effort to portray the full spectrum of his emotions, Austin employs a simple combination of sounds, formed by a piano and his own voice. In addition to the simple fusion of sounds, he also uses repetition multiple times throughout the song, most notably in his second verse, augmenting the agony and regret he’s going through. One interesting point to note is Austin’s use of piano, which is a rare occurrence on his songs (and hopefully a recurrent one).

Drink it all down, just to throw it up
Take my own life just to save yours (just to save yours)
Take my own life just to save yours
I got a reputation that I can't deny
You're the superstar, entertain us (entertain us)
But please don't wake me up
I betrayed us
But us don't give a fuck
Kill myself today
Kill it all away
Broken path I made
Please just stay away
I know I fucked up before, but I won't do it again
And I got a lot of things that I wish I woulda said
And I'm the same damn fool when I wear that hat again
I know I fucked up and I can't make it right
Watch yourself, I can't slow down
This is who I am, can't be anyone else
So don't let me go, save yourself
Just save yourself, just save yourself
I was born to raise hell, I was born to take pills
I was born to chase mill's, I was born to cave in
I was born to fuck hoes, I was born to fuck up
I was born to, what a shame
Take my own life just to save yours
Drink it all down, just to throw it up
Take my own life just to save yours (just to save yours)
Take my own life just to save yours
I got a reputation that I can't deny
You're the superstar, entertain us (entertain us)
Cut my thumb up
Count my check, count my check
Let me choke on
My cigarette, cigarette
Cut my thumb up
Count my check, count my check
Let me choke on
My cigarettes and heavy debt

This is definitely one of the most vulnerable songs he has ever made, if not THE most vulnerable. This album was worth the wait!
@wolfiemuse
Euthanasia acoustic is also very vulnerable and raw. All these slower songs are super great
@Drexistential
It's tragic that we see suffering as something to channel into art. I hope this helps him reinvent his internal narrative, and that he is doing it for himself.
@wolfiemuse
@@Drexistential as an amateur songwriter and guitarist, pouring pain into a song is one of the therapeutic ways that always helped me deal with my feelings in a non-harmful way while still preserving that feeling and memory into a song that I could revisit at any time and play to help get over it. It still sucks; but for famous artists I feel like it’s both therapeutic and financially viable way to help deal.
On another note: what do you think of this album vs Hollywood is Bleeding? I love both, they’re my favorites, but I feel like Hollywood has deep and vulnerable lyrics hidden into poppy, fun jams and Twelve Carat Toothache actually explores those vulnerable feelings more musically than Hollywood did.
@AlexDolan1993
We lost so many great performers so young. I hope we get to enjoy Post until we all are old.
@wdeagles05
@@wolfiemuse I think he had better features in hollywoods bleeding but I think it’s too soon to compare the albums I’m still trying to decide what I think about this album. If I had to say though I feel as though his first two albums are better then his last two
@markzacrep4266
I’m 64 years old and I think he is one of the most talented musicians I’ve heard in many many years. Nice job Post. Keep up the great work. I love your music. It hits my heart.
