4. PRIMARY is the axiom to their music and the music industry itself. The importance of truth and relevance in the lyrics exist on an emotional plane which continues to be the most powerful element to their success.
PRIMARY the band was formed in the spring of 2003, and played their first live show together summer of the same year. This five piece band continued to work very hard writing songs and performing to packed venues. In the Fall of 2003 PRIMARY started pre-production on their first 5-song demo which included the song titled, “I Don’t Know”. Phoenix, Arizona's own 98 KUPD (Larry Mac) was the first to spin this track off their Demo disc for eight consecutive weeks. The band received wide acclaim for it’s fresh modern style and diverse rhythmic progressions. PRIMARY continued it’s relentless touring schedule, playing many different shows and venues, when in 2004 they met and joined forces with producer Ken Mary of “Sonicphish Studios” (Sonicphish.com) at the NAMM show in Anaheim, California. As soon as producer Ken Mary heard PRIMARY’S Demo, they immediately started working on the full-length CD titled “FEEL THE PAIN”. The CD was said to be an emotional and metaphorical look at real events, through the eyes of each of the members of PRIMARY. The final mix was completed in 2005, mastered by Precision Mastering, then printed. Currently an unsigned band, PRIMARY’s popularity continues to grow rapidly through word of mouth and the buzz they have created on MySpace.com.

To be sure, it's like a liar to the few
And here I am, I stand before you
I am bare before your cause
And these tongues fly
And these words sting
And I can make them disappear
Am I confused?
Can I do more?
I could've told you
Don't say Never
Not doing what we were told
If I could've mould you
The same as ever,
Be like an open road.
Don't say it's true, it's iridescent
To be sure, it's like an open field of mines
And here I am, I'm only human
I can do more harm than you
And these words sting
And these tongues fly
So, we can watch all that you do
Don't let me in
Don't let me in
'Cos I am here, now.
I could've tamed it
I pray to another
Tell me, what is my goal?
I could've told you
Don't say Never
Be like an open road
If I could've told you
Don't say Never
Not doing what we were told
If I could've mould you
Same as ever
Be like an open road
I pray to another
Tell me, what is my goal?
Don't say Never
Be like an open road.
In the song "Open Road" by Primary featuring Ohhyuk and Lim Kim, the lyrics appear to be written from the perspective of someone who is conflicted and uncertain about the path they're on. The opening lines "Don't say it's true, it's effervescent/ To be sure, it's like a liar to the few" suggest that the singer is questioning the truth of their circumstances and how they appear to others. They acknowledge their own vulnerability, saying "I am bare before your cause" and expressing regret about not being able to do more.
The lines "And these tongues fly/ And these words sting" suggest that there may be others involved in this situation who are talking about or criticizing the singer. However, the singer believes they have the power to make those negative words "disappear". They continue to question themselves, wondering "Am I confused? / Can I do more?" It could be that they are at a crossroads, trying to decide what their next move should be.
The chorus begins with "I could've told you/ Don't say Never". It seems that this line is directed towards someone who has given up hope or feels hopeless in some way. The singer suggests that the person should not close themselves off to possibility, or "not doing what we were told". They then express a desire to "mould" or shape this person, to make them "be like an open road". The open road is often seen as a symbol of freedom and possibility, suggesting that the singer wants this person to be more open to different paths.
In the second verse, the singer refers to something as "iridescent", another word for shimmering or vibrant. However, they also describe it as "like an open field of mines", suggesting that there may be hidden danger or risk involved. They acknowledge their own fallibility, saying "I'm only human/ I can do more harm than you". The lines "So, we can watch all that you do/ Don't let me in/ 'Cos I am here, now" suggest a tension between wanting to be involved in something and feeling shut out or rejected.
The second half of the chorus repeats many of the same lines as the first, including the desire to be "like an open road" and the request to not give up hope ("Don't say Never"). The line "I pray to another/ Tell me, what is my goal?" suggests that the singer is searching for guidance or purpose.
Overall, the song seems to be about uncertainty and the desire for change. The singer acknowledges the possibility of danger or failure, but also sees potential for growth and transformation. The repeated refrain of "Don't say Never" suggests that the singer believes in the power of hope and possibility.
