*Note:
In the early 90s, the name Psyche was also used as an alias of Detroit techno artist Carl Craig. Under this early pseudonym the legendary Detroit based techno producer released a few 12"s on Transmat - later compiled onto 'Elements', alongside other material written under his BFC alias, and released on Craig's own Planet E label.
Also, a short lived west coast Scottish new wave/rock band called Psyche released a 7" single in 1982.
Broken Heart
Psyche Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To wash away my tears
And help my life
To erase this fear
Always too much
Love could be more than this
Consumed by the fire
In our first kiss
Who will repair this broken heart ?
Who can repair this broken heart ?
Danger has no boundaries
No holds barred
And when I walk through this crowd
I know that I'll be scarred
Now you know what lies
In the promises you've made
I guess I've pushed too far
You know I've always been afraid
The lyrics to Psyche's song "Broken Heart" are emotional and reflective upon a lost relationship. The opening lines express the desperation to escape from the pain caused by the separation. The singer is seeking solace from the rain in the hopes that it will wash away the tears and the fear that has consumed their life. The love they once shared was intense, but unfortunately, it ended in heartbreak, leading to a void that they can't seem to overcome. The fire of their first kiss has faded, leaving only the remnants of ashes that now torment the singer. The lyrics convey a sense of helplessness and the burden of a love that has come and gone.
The chorus of the song continues to express the singer's pain, repeating the question of who will repair their broken heart. The damaging effects of the singer's relationship have no boundaries, and they have been hurt beyond repair. The crowd and the promises made by the former partner have left scars that are impossible to heal. The singer has pushed too far, and the relationship was irreconcilable, leading to the palpable sense of fear that the lyrics express.
Overall, "Broken Heart" is a poignantly written song that delves into the complexities of lost love and the aftermath of heartbreak. The lyrics speak authentically to anyone who has experienced the pain of a broken heart, and the melody only adds to the song's depth and meaningfulness.
