Formed by singer Katie Jane Garside and guitarist Crispin Gray, they had previously collaborated in the celebrated but short-lived band Daisy Chainsaw. Garside and Gray did not cross paths again until 1999 when they formed Queen Adreena. An album, Taxidermy, soon followed in 2000. Pete Howard, the last drummer to play with The Clash, joined just before the band signed with Rough Trade for their second album, 2002’s Drink Me, featuring the lead single "Pretty Like Drugs." Queen Adreena toured extensively in the UK and Europe. Their third album was released in 2005: The Butcher and the Butterfly.
Ride a Cock Horse, an album of mostly unreleased material from the Taxidermy era, was only available from MySpace www.myspace.com/queenadreenafrance in 2007.
In 2008, Queen Adreena released their final album Djin in Japan with a UK release the following year. They disbanded in 2009 due to Katie Jane Garside pursuing other projects.
Falling Star
Queen Adreena Lyrics

And I'll catch it in the dawning rays
My heart is a darkened moon
'Cause only time knows, let the light come soon
My heart is a dying sun
And I'll hold you through the dark night of your soul
Break me open, sacred pearl
Let me slide down the curves of your form
My heart is the burning seed
Let the pearl's tears fall down on me
My heart is the open sky
I'll ask the birds, my love, that I might fly
The lyrics in Queen Adreena's song "Falling Star" are a poetic reflection of the state of the singer's heart. Each line of the verse describes the heart in a different way, comparing it to celestial objects and elements of nature. The first line describes the heart as a falling star, and the second line suggests that the singer intends to catch it in the "dawning rays," implying that the singer wants to save their heart before it falls too far. In the next line, the heart is compared to a darkened moon, a metaphor for a heart that is not fully lit up with emotion. The phrase "let the light come soon" suggests that the singer is pleading for a change in their heart.
The third line compares the heart to a dying sun, which is in opposition to the first line's image of a falling star. This suggests that the heart is not only falling, but is also losing its energy, which feels ominous. The singer expresses the desire to hold someone through the "dark night of your soul," suggesting that they want to share their burden with someone. The repetition of the phrase "break me open, sacred pearl" suggests that the singer wants someone to break down their walls and help them to see things more clearly.
Overall, the lyrics to "Falling Star" are poetic and introspective, drawing on imagery from the natural world to describe the singer's emotional state.
