Coma
R.O.M. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Blanca escena, tan serena, conteniéndolo.
Se alimenta su condena, sumergiéndolo.

Solo oigo llanto y pena, nadie viene para sonreír. Quiero huir.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of R.O.M.'s song, Coma, are a commentary on the human experience during various periods of time. The first two lines can be interpreted as the singer calling out someone for their inauthenticity, reflected in their poker face, and asking whether their story includes a gentleman who has "killed for them." The next line questions whether they love each other's children, but the singer responds that the children don't love them back.

The next stanza delves into the effects of war and time on our surroundings. It refers to the year 1945 and the impact of bombings on the singer, while also alluding to the idea that history can be rewritten fifty years in the future. The following lines describe decay and neglect, with streets cracked for miles and the door open perhaps to suggest a lack of safety. The lack of luxury is emphasized in the last line, where the simple mention of cards and cutlery juxtaposes with high-end imagery.

The final lines focus back on the woman introduced earlier, who was buying an artistic drink and looking to inspire others. However, the singer takes on a new role as a killer, declaring that the woman will never surface with her painting, as the repetition of the line, "Neither will you," alludes to her possible demise. The last line ties back into the theme of inauthenticity, as the woman is "gambling" in the "lion's den."

Funnily enough, Sandra Bullock is American, while Ryan Reynolds is Canadian, the complete opposite of their "Proposal" characters! 😅

Drew and Adam are such a dynamic duo, it's tough to say which is my favorite. Though, in the end, The Wedding Singer does win out but only by a hair because 50 First Dates is also just so, so good!

The Wedding Singer is my personal favourite. The chemistry between Drew and Adam, and the hilarious perfect 80s tribute ticks every box
