From 1998 to 1999, he saw success blossom as DJ/producer for the Columbus-based group the Megahertz, with two twelve-inch singles on Bobbito Garcia's legendary NY label, Fondle 'Em Records. This explosive entrance to the underground hip-hop scene gave way to shows from Europe to Japan, not to mention garnering mention in Vibe magazine's "History of Hip-Hop" historical volume. Opening doors outside of the east coast, the MHz went on to appear on the Bay Area's ABB records compilation, Always Bigger and Better, Volume 1. Their contribution (entitled "This Year") was voted best track on the ABB website, while competing against major label heavyweights such as Dilated Peoples and Defari.
In 2000, the praise only continued for RJD2, producing Copywrite's debut single "Holier Than Thou" on Rawkus Records. The work certainly didn't stop there; spring of 2001 was RJD2's formal introduction to hip-hop as a solo artist on Def Jux Presents, a compilation showcasing the roster of his record label, Definitive Jux Records. Having to hold his own next to NYC underground legends such as Company Flow, Cannibal Ox, and Aesop Rock, RJD2 did no less. That summer he followed up this string of releases with his own twelve inch entitled June, which featured fellow MHz member Copywrite laying down two incredible book-end verses. Melding the hip-hop tradition of raw, gritty samples with a more classical approach to song structure, he has concocted a style of production that pleases the most discerning hip-hop scholar without compromising that old dance floor aesthetic.
2002 saw RJD2 release the critically acclaimed debut Dead Ringer, which not only solidified his spot as one of the underground's top producers, but also caught the ears of Grammy-man ?uestlove of The Roots who called the album one of his favorites of the year. Not to mention even landing the track Ghost Writer in a Saturn ad, with juggling solo ventures, producing rappers, and DeeJaying, the man is certainly in the hot seat at the moment. It has been said by many legendary producers that the ultimate goal is to move a crowd-not just to dance, but sometimes also to feel and think. In this vein, RJD2 is only continuing a time-honored tradition.
In 2003, RJD2 released The Horror, and the landmark Since We Last Spoke in 2004. A track from his 2006 release Magnificent City Instrumentals, "A Beautiful Mine," is the theme song of the AMC television drama Mad Men.
In 2007, RJD2 released The Third Hand which, if nothing else, showcased his ability to evolve beyond the hip-hop genre. Around this same time RJ created a compilation album with fellow underground DJ's Mick Boogie and DJ Flash for their A.B.B. compadres Little Brother entitled AND JUSTUS FOR ALL.
In 2010, RJD2 released The Colossus on his own label, RJ's Electrical Connections. The album could be described as RJD2's meshing of Since We Last Spoke's grittier tracks with The Third Hand's Moby-esque pop. The album contains a variety of recording methods, with most songs featuring an amalgam of sampled, programmed, and recorded sounds.
RJD2 has participated in numerous collaborations with artists such as Aceyalone, Ric Ocasek, and Goapele. RJD2 is also part of the group Soul Position with Blueprint. They have released two full length studio albums, 8 Million Stories and Things Go Better with RJ and Al.

I'ma make it do what it does
I'ma pull up on love
I'ma make you get on up
Ain't no bitch in my blood
I'ma make it do what it does
I'ma pull up on love
I'ma make you get on up, oh
She's thicker than Snickers, I ain't no candy rapper (woo)
I'm suited and booted, I'm talkin' Dandy Dapper (yeah)
She a cutie patootie, I don't know what she's after
Don't judge a book by its cover, least try to read the chapter
She's got the sweetest laughter
I'm caught up in the rapture
I'm tryna play it cool, smooth in a Donny Hatha-way
The type of woman that you wanna make her day
She dutty whine like a vintage Beaujolais
She pretty boujie but I like it that way
Ay, 'cause I don't want no broke bitch (no way)
And shawty, you a dope bitch (okay)
Come correct when you approach, bitch (woo)
Don't fuck around and fuck it up
We hit the club just to fuck it up
I fuck around and call it love
Don't be scared to fall, shawty, baby knuckle up
Ain't no bitch in my blood (nah)
I'ma make it do what it does
I'ma pull up on love
I'ma make you get on up (woo)
Ain't no bitch in my blood, nah
I'ma make it do what it does (oh)
I'ma pull up on love (uh)
I'ma make you get on up
We started more parties than Ron Bacardi, right? (Right)
She like to get busy, she live a party life (life)
Oh, what, she got body? That new Ferrari type?
I'm talkin' curves and the headlights
Energy's electric like the boogaloo
Don't hit the breaker, we breakin' like Breakin' 1 and 2
You know it's shakin' like bacon, we goin' HAM, ooh
We off the Casamigos and the culture, too
Walkin' like I talk it
Bad bitches only
Smooth as Babyface, I came up on a tenderoni
She told her mama 'bout me
I let her meet all the homies
It's a live broadcast they carried just like the Tonys
We bubblin' hot bologna
We kissin' like we the only
Motherfuckers in the club tonight, can't leave you lonely
It's some wolves in this bitch
Tryna be a player but there's rules to this shit
Better check the records, I'm a fool with this shit
Ain't no bitch in my blood
I'ma make it do what it does
I'ma pull up on love
I'ma make you get on up, ha
Ain't no bitch in my blood
I'ma make it do what it does
I'ma pull up on love
I'ma make you get on up
On the good foot
(Ain't no bitch in my blood)
Amen, like the good book
(Ain't no bitch in my blood)
Yeah, on the good foot
Yeah (ain't no bitch in my blood)
Hallelujah, like the good book, yeah
(Ain't no bitch in my blood) Woo
Went to the doctor, today
(Ain't no bitch in my blood)
They did a blood test on me
(Ain't no bitch in my blood)
You goddamn right
So, baby I'm comin' for ya
(Ain't no bith in my blood)
Ain't never been scared
Get to it
You know what I'm talkin' about? (Hey)
Ain't no bitch in my blood
I'ma make it do what it does
I'ma pull up on love
I'ma make you get on up
Ha, ain't no bitch in my blood
I'ma make it do what it does
I'ma pull up on love
I'ma make you get on up
Ah, get on up
Hey (ain't no bitch in my blood)
Hey (ain't no bitch in my blood)
Ain't no bitch in my blood
(Ain't no bitch in my blood)
Ain't no bitch in my blood
(Ain't no bitch in my blood)
Oh, ain't no bitch in my blood
(Ain't no bitch in my blood)
(Ain't no bitch in my blood)
The song "Pull Up on Love" by RJD2, STS and Khari Mateen is an ode to swagger and confidence in love. The repeated phrase "Ain't no bitch in my blood" is a declaration of strength, emphasizing that the singer will do whatever it takes to win over the woman he desires. The verses describe the woman in question in flattering terms, emphasizing her beauty, energy and sophistication. The chorus, with its invitation to "pull up on love" and "make you get on up," serves as a call to action, urging the woman to engage with the singer and enjoy the moment.
The lyrics also touch on themes of authenticity and respect. The singer insists that he is not a "candy rapper" or a pretender, but a true player with style and substance. He encourages the woman not to judge him by his appearance or reputation, but rather to appreciate him for who he truly is. There is also a sense of mutual affection and connection expressed in the lines about sharing laughter and bringing the woman home to meet the singer's friends.
Overall, "Pull Up on Love" is a bold and confident expression of romantic desire, with a confident, grooving beat and lyrics that celebrate both the singer's own strengths and the appeal of the woman he pursues.
