Rae's groundbreaking debut album helped to bring the flavour of flossing to wax as well as the use of the moniker among Wu brethren and other prominent emcees. The single "Verbal Intercourse" featured the first appearance of Nas Escobar, Nas' alter ego. Similarly, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, who served as Rae's partner in rhyme throughout the entire Cuban Linx album, also developed a slew of other identities. Identities like Lex Diamond, one of the flashy, witty and intellectually stimulating personas of the multifaceted Raekwon.
In the years after the release of Cuban Linx, Raekwon continued to record several albums with the Clan including the platinum Wu-Tang Forver (1997) and The W (2000), as well as the gold Iron Flag (2001). He also starred in the critically acclaimed film Black and White, before releasing his second solo album, Immobilarity in 1999. Four years later, it's time for another masterpiece from Raekwon.
The Lex Diamond Story, Raekwon's forthcoming third solo album is that desperately needed effort. This new LP is as much a reflection of his first musical triumph Cuban Linx, as it is a manifestation of the future and what is to come from this great emcee. Raekwon is like the E.F. Hutton of hip-hop: when he speaks, everyone listens. The current void in hip-hop is filled with this rap veteran's
crafty verbal gymnastics and artistic form of storytelling. The Lex Diamond Story takes the top shelf elements of the Wu's first album and the finest sentiments of Raekwon's debut and joins them together to deliver another classic album to the masses.
A lyrical gourmet meal, The Lex Diamond Story shows that The Chef still possesses the recipe to cook up a jambalaya of words with the main ingredient being superior skills. Animated and intense, Raekwon's stealth delivery is filled with emotion, skilled cadence and an array of diverse stories, hooks, and topics. The track, "All Over Again (The Way We Were)" touches on the flavour of "Can It Be All So Simple" with its tale of street survival. Meanwhile, "Pit Bull Fights" is reminiscent of the ferocious lyrical beating inflicted on "Incarcerated Scarfaces." Raekwon is indisputably at his creative beast. Unchained and uninhibited, he is assertive with his music and focused on his goals.

Get this flow together nigga
Get that flow sounding ridiculous you heard
You heard
For real
Check the flow
Glass you take
Mind blown bricks laying what's foreign
Grew up on stick ups
Whole click robbed know we ain't starving yes
Pulling out big notes yes
Jumping in the big S I'm fresh
All about success let's flex
From the whip get checks what's next
Get grass get to pass that stress
I remain non-lame I'm blessed
Pull it out I'm firing yes
Cause my mind knows best
Catch me in the Chi
Buying a bitch out
Flying in a Leer
I'm right in the bitch mouth
Heard I'm in the chair
Louie the bitch out
Its all real yeah
You heard it from his mouth
You hear me
You hear me
You hear me
You hear me
You hear me
You hear me
You hear me
You hear me
Crown broken down, freaks want a thousand
Let me stroke 'em down
One bite, one town
Ten siblings, hustling is business
Tustling niggas up, stomp 'em in Tims
I;ts me, my house
Sitting on plainsclothes
Bitch calm down
All I rock's Kangols
Six all brown
Inside's mango
Getting it home town niggas got a rainbow
Everyday motto
Seek for pay day
All in the lotto
Sheeps could sway grey
Out in the Cabos eating steak plates
Whatever it do
Keep the same traits
Jeeps for name plates
Sweep the main gates
Try to blunt yo they fix with green flakes
Living up top, let's rock with team faith
And get money nigga pop I need space
You hear me
You hear me
You hear me
You hear me
You hear me
You hear me
You hear me
You hear me
In this song, Raekwon is rapping about his success and wealth that he has achieved through hustling and working hard. He speaks about acquiring material possessions like expensive clothing, jewelry, and cars. He mentions growing up in a world of stick-ups and robberies but now, with his success, he no longer has to worry about struggling to make ends meet. He flexes his status by saying that he can buy anyone out and fly in private jets. Raekwon enjoys living the high life and reiterates that everything he says is true and that his wealth and success speak for themselves.
The chorus of the song, “You hear me,” is repeated over and over emphasizing the fact that Raekwon wants his listeners to understand and acknowledge his success. This song can be seen as a declaration of his wealth, power, and influence, and is a tribute to his journey from his earlier days of struggle to his current status as a successful artist. While he rejoices in his accomplishments, he remains aware of the dangers and responsibilities that come with wealth and power.
Overall, “You Hear Me” is a reflection on the success Raekwon has achieved, the trials he has faced along the way, and his relishing of the rewards that come with his success.
