She Gone
Randall King Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Woke up to the sound of gravel flyin' pedal down
When I came to I jumped up fell outta bed and hit the ground
Ran out the screen door chokin' on her dust
She had her window down and her finger up
Yep she gone

Shoulda seen that bright red goodbye lipstick
Writin' that was on the wall
Coulda saved myself from blind side hell
If I'da never fell at all
It's almost like she had the whole thing planned out all along
She came, she loved, got me all messed up
She gone

No turnin' back, no second chance,
What's done is done, that's all she wrote
If I's doin' wrong she never said so how the hell was I to know
Yeah if she'd-a gave me a shot I swear that I would've cleaned up
But now I'm cleaning out her closet, and goin' through her stuff
Talk about rough

Shoulda seen that bright red goodbye lipstick
Writin' that was on the wall
Coulda saved myself from blind side hell
If I'da never fell at all
Man it's almost like she had the whole thing planned out all along
She came, she loved, got me all messed up
She gone

There she goes

Shoulda seen that bright red goodbye lipstick
Writin' that was on the wall
Coulda saved myself from blind side hell
If I'da never fell at all
Man it's almost like she had the whole thing planned out all along
She came, she loved, she took off in a rush
Even had my dog in the back of her truck
She gone

Had that dog for seven years, man

That bastard was waggin'
Hell, I'da been glad to go too

Overall Meaning

The song "She Gone" by Randall King tells the story of a man who wakes up to the sound of his girlfriend leaving in a hurry. He chases after her, but it's too late; she's already gone, leaving him with nothing but a goodbye lipstick message on the wall. The lyrics also suggest that the man didn't realize the relationship was in trouble, and he would have cleaned up his act if given the chance. However, now he's left with the painful realization that he missed his opportunity to save the relationship.

The song's lyrics are powerful in their simplicity. The repetition of the "shoulda seen" and "coulda saved" lines adds to the sense of regret and missed opportunities that permeate the song. The lyrics also speak to the feeling of being blindsided in a relationship and not being given a chance to make things right. Overall, "She Gone" is a poignant depiction of heartbreak and loss.
