Ras Shiloh Coming Home
Article by Diane βLivonnβ Adam
βRas Shilohβs voice remains piercing yet amazingly gentle. He displays a different range on Coming Home than previously heard. Ras Shiloh has been a truly missed live performance artist in Northern California. So itβs with much anticipation that this Brooklyn-born artist is back to the business of delivering the sweet sound of reggae in his own unique way with his superb new 2007 CD release, Coming Home (VP Records) produced by the legendary Bobby βDigital" Dixon.
Coming Home is truly a work of art and a labor of love by Ras Shiloh and producer Bobby Digital. A winning combination considering the Garnet Silk-like vocals of Ras Shiloh and Digitalβs many accomplishments including his production work on Sizzlaβs Da Real Thing and Black Woman & Child. From start to finish Coming Home is roots and culture at its highest and easily one of the best reggae releases this year. No doubt, this one will keep rotating in your music players day and night! Opening the album is the soul-stirring, βWe Need Loveβ refraining that, We need more / Our nation is crying out / We need more love (love is what weβre searching for) in this world today / Promise us a better way / We need more joy (joy is what we need today) / a place for the children to play / Where is the sunny day...β Coming Homeβs success can also be attributed to some brilliant musicianship from Squidley Cole on drums, Donald βDanny Bassieβ Dennis on bass, Dalton Browne on guitars, Paul βRight Moveβ Crossdale, Sidney Mills, Mikey Spice and Benjy Myaz on keyboards and the great Dean Fraser on sax.
For many of us the introduction in 1998 of Ras Shiloh came by way of his 1998 CD release, Babylon You Doom which subsequently took him on tour to California to perform. His distinctive a cappella vocals literally took wings throughout the San Francisco Bay Area as he performed from Maritime Hall to Reggae In The Park and seemed to take root as a young artist who was destined to make it to the top. Personal issues may have played a part in his departure from the music scene in the Bay Area but it has not stopped this young Rasta from continuing what he does best, releasing a comeback album in 2002 with From Rasta To You (VP Records).
Accolades for Coming Home are many since every track on this CD is pure gold. Songs I find particularly impressive are βGive A Little Loveβ, the spiritually felt, βWhat You Have Doneβ and βCome Down Jah Jahβ, βThe New Rising Dayβ featuring Bascone X and βIt Will Be Overβ featuring Natural Black. The album also features Morgan Heritage on the song βLet The People Voice Be Heardβ.
Ras Shilohβs voice remains piercing yet amazingly gentle. He displays a different range on Coming Home than previously heard. Clearly, this young Rastaβs voice is maturing in a direction that still places him as one of the highest order of Jahβs angels --- a Seraphim for the new millennium and beyond.

Are You Satisfied?
Ras Shiloh Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Oh Shiloh wants to know, wants to know ooh
(Chorus)
Are you satisfied
wipe the tears form your eyes,
I?m all alone still you thought,
Are you satisfied no ones with me tonight,
only Jah and he is always by my side?
(Verse 1)
Pretty little woman don?t you trust me no more?
You don?t have to break down my door,
I?m all alone.
Come inside and you will see,
there?s no one here but me,
told you I?ll still be over,
still you refuse to believe.
(Chorus)
Are you satisfied
wipe the tears from your eyes,
I?m all alone still you thought,
I was telling a lie.
Are you satisfied no ones with me tonight,
only Jah and he is always by my side?
(Verse 2)
Girl you know I love you so,
I cant hurt you no no no no,
want you do what Jah say,
I won?t desert you no way,
you will over stand as Jah (provide?) oh ayy
(Chorus)
Are you satisfied
wipe the tears from your eyes,
I'm all alone still you thought,
i was telling a lie.
Are you satisfied no ones with me tonight,
only Jah and he is always by my side?
Lay a virtue, how could I ever leave you?
A virtuous woman is so (ohh?)
Always be by your side,
that I can not deny,
you wont ever have to cry-y.
(Chorus)
Are you satisfied
wipe the tears form your eyes,
I?m all alone still you thought,
I was telling a lie.
Are you satisfied, no one is here with Ras Shiloh tonight,
only Jah and he is always by my side?
Pretty little woman don?t you trust me no more?
You don?t have to break down my door,
I?m all alone.
Come inside and you will see,
There?s no one here but me,
Told you I?ll still be over,
Still you refuse to believe.
(Chorus)
Are you satisfied
wipe the tears form your eyes,
I?m all alone still you thought,
I was telling a lie.
Are you satisfied, no one is with me tonight,
only Jah and he is always by my side?
The song "Are You Lonely" by Ras Shiloh is a reggae track that talks about a man trying to reassure his significant other that she can trust him despite being alone. The song begins with the artist asking his partner if she is satisfied and wiping the tears from her eyes, even though he is all alone beside Jah. The chorus repeats the same message, emphasizing the idea that Ras Shiloh will not lie to her and that he is genuinely alone. In the first verse, he pleads with his girlfriend to come inside and see that he is telling the truth while assuring her that he will be the same person she fell in love with. In verse 2, he continues to profess his love for her and promises not to hurt her.
The lyrics of the song are a plea for trust in a relationship. The artist is reassuring his partner that he loves her and that he is not lying about being alone. He asks her not to doubt him anymore and to believe that he will always be with her. The song's message is that love and trust should be the foundation of a long-lasting relationship.

I've been listening to this song from I was a teenager. 30+ years old now and it still gives me chills. The man's voice is as smooth as silk and this Lalabella track is the epitome of a meditation tune. All the down voters don't know what they're doing in life.
