Historically influenced, and constantly costumed, Rasputina keeps a small legion of incredibly passionate admirers enthralled with their earnest musicianship. Considered to be quite a pioneer and visionary, Melora and her group have inspired countless young people to pick up the cello, and have re-inspired many uninspired string players. Rasputina considers this to be the finest payment for their work.

Rasputina Lyrics

It's been a long time since I did the Stroll
Oh let me get it back
Let me get it back
Let me get it back, baby, where I come from
Oh Lord
It's been a long time
Been a long time
Yes it has
It's been a long time since I spoke of love
Many many tears of a life with no love
Carry me back
Carry me back
Carry me back, baby, where I come from
It's been a long time
Been a long time,
Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time
Seems so long since we walked in the moonlight
Oh Lord
Making vows that just can't work right
Oh yea
Open your arms
Open your arms,
Open your arms, baby, let my love come running in
It's been a long time
Been a long time
Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time
The lyrics to Rasputina's song "Rock & Roll" evoke feelings of nostalgia for a time when the singer was more carefree and full of love. The repeated refrain of "It's been a long time" speaks to a period of long loneliness and longing for that which was once familiar and comforting. The first verse references classic dance styles of the past, such as the "Stroll," and the desire to get back to the roots of rock and roll. The second verse speaks to the pain of a life without love and the longing to be carried back to a happier time. The final verse yearns for a rekindling of love and a return to an embrace that once brought comfort.
Overall, this song speaks to a sense of loss and looking back on what once was. It's a wistful reflection on a life that may have gone off course, and a longing to return to a simpler, happier time. The lyrics are simple but powerful, and the repeating refrain adds a haunting, melancholic touch to the entire song.
