As of 2007, Joey Bishop is the only male member of the Rat Pack who is still alive.
2) In 1984, RAT PACK singer/founder Matt Ratt was covering the vocal duties for Rich Kids on LSD, while singer Jason Sears was away on "medical leave". During this time Rich Kids on LSD was signed on to record for the now infamous"NARDCORE" album on Mystic Records. Just prior to recording, Jason returned from his leave of absense. So left with the dilema of an album to record, and suddenly no band, Matt was told to throw something together quickly and record for the album anyway. So after a few rehearsals with Chris Rest and Alpo D.(borrowed from Rich Kids on LSD) Dave Casillas from STALAG 13 and Mike Torres from NARTHEX STRUCTURE, RAT PACK was born! Although originaly only meant to be a recording project for the NARDCORE album, RAT PACK ended up doing three records for Mystic, 1985's self titled 7", 1987's "Ice Cream Acid and Cigarettes" 7" and 1990's self titled full length Lp. Through the years RAT PACK has gone through long periods of hibernation, with many line up changes...people that have played in and recorded with RAT PACK include current and former members of bands such as NOFX, SOCIAL DISTORTION, STALAG 13, ADOLESCENTS, D.I., SUGAR CULT, HOLLYWOOD HATE, FOO FIGHTERS, Rubber Neck, LAGWAGON, Rich Kids on LSD, NO USE FOR A NAME, and ME FIRST AND THE GIMME GIMMES.
Love And Marriage
Rat Pack Lyrics

Go together like a horse and carriage
This I tell you brother
You can't have one without the other
Love and marriage, love and marriage
It's an institute you can't disparage
Ask the local gentry
Try, try, try to separate them
It's an illusion
Try, try, try, and you will only come
To this conclusion
Love and marriage, love and marriage
Go together like a horse and carriage
Dad was told by mother
You can't have one, you can't have none
You can't have one without the other
Try, try, try to separate them
It's an illusion
Try, try, try, and you will only come
To this conclusion
Love and marriage, love and marriage
Go together like a horse and carriage
Dad was told by mother
You can't have one (you can't have none)
You can't have one without the other
The Rat Pack's song "Love And Marriage" delves into the profound connection between love and marriage, using the analogy of a horse and carriage to emphasize the inseparable nature of these two concepts. The lyrics suggest that love and marriage are intricately intertwined and that one cannot exist without the other. This sentiment is reinforced throughout the song, emphasizing the importance of both love and marriage in the context of a relationship.
The lyrics highlight the traditional view of love and marriage as a fundamental institution that is highly regarded in society. The mention of "the local gentry" implies that this belief is widely held among those of high social standing, underscoring the significance placed on the union of love and marriage. The use of the word "elementary" further emphasizes the simplicity and natural connection between these two aspects of a committed relationship.
The song warns against attempting to separate love and marriage, presenting it as an illusion that is ultimately futile. The repeated refrain to “try, try, try” to separate them suggests a persistent effort to break the bond between love and marriage, only to lead to the realization that they are indeed interdependent. This theme reinforces the idea that love and marriage are meant to coexist harmoniously, with any attempts to disrupt this balance proving fruitless.
The closing lines of the song, with the mention of Dad being told by Mother that "you can't have one without the other," further drive home the message of the inseparability of love and marriage. The repetition of this sentiment underscores the song's central theme and serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring connection between these two aspects of a successful relationship. Overall, "Love And Marriage" celebrates the mutual dependence and symbiotic relationship between love and marriage, painting a picture of these two elements as essential components of a fulfilling partnership.
