Take These Chains From My Hear
Ray Lyrics

Take these chains from my heart and set me free
You've grown cold and no longer care for me
All my faith in you is gone but the heartaches linger on
Take these chains from my heart and set me free
Take these tears from my eyes and let me see
If you love somebody new, let me find a new love, too
Take these chains from my heart and set me free
Give my heart just a word of sympathy (sympathy)
Be as fair to my heart as you can be (you can be)
Then if you no longer care for the love that's beating there
Take these chains from my heart and set me free
Take these chains from my heart and set me free (set me free)
The lyrics of Ray's song "Take These Chains From My Heart" describe a person pleading to their former lover to release them from the emotional bondage that their relationship has become. The singer asks their partner to free them from the chains that have imprisoned their heart by letting go of the love they once shared. The song expresses the singer's desperation and hopelessness in the relationship, as they have lost all hope and trust in their partner. Despite the heartaches and tears that linger on, the singer urges their partner to let them go so that they can find a new love and move on from the pain.
The lyrics of "Take These Chains From My Heart" have resonated with audiences since its release in 1963, making it a classic country and western song. The song was written by Hy Heath and Fred Rose and recorded by numerous artists over the years, including Hank Williams and Willie Nelson. The song has been covered in various musical styles ranging from country to soul and pop.
