I didn't know hate could feel this good behind the wheel of a car
Might put this truck in neutral, let it roll into the lake
First I'll finish off this bottle, so it looks like a mistake
Holy name strengthens the beast
Be lucky if you're in one piece
Oh Lord, please give me peace
I loved you from the get go
You saved me from a funeral pyre
I told you I loved you
You called me a liar
Yeah, I've carried fire and I've waded through a flood
You dragged me on the wire, he bathed me in the blood
Holy name strengthens the beast
Be lucky if you're in one piece
Holy name strengthens the beast
Oh Lord, please give me peace
How long? How long are you going to make me wait?
How long? How long are you going to make me wait?
How long? How long are you going to make me wait?
How long? How long are you going to make me wait?
Might put this truck in neutral
Let it roll into the lake
First I'll finish off this bottle so it looks like a mistake
In the first verse of the song, Ray reflects on his inner turmoil and the complexity of his emotions. Staring at his reflection through bottles behind the bar, he acknowledges a newfound sensation of hatred that has taken hold, particularly when he is behind the wheel of a car. This imagery suggests a sense of reckless abandon and a desire to escape from his own thoughts and feelings, symbolized by the act of driving.
Ray contemplates a drastic action, considering putting his truck in neutral and letting it roll into the lake. However, before doing so, he decides to finish off the bottle he is holding, intending for the potential consequences of his actions to appear as a mere accident. This sequence of events conveys a sense of resignation and disillusionment, as well as a desire to numb the pain he is experiencing.
The repeated refrain about the "holy name" strengthening the beast alludes to a struggle between conflicting forces within Ray. The reference to being lucky to be in one piece underscores the idea of enduring internal battles and overcoming challenges. Ray appeals to a higher power, asking for peace in the midst of his turmoil and inner conflicts.
The final section of the song intensifies with Ray expressing a mix of emotions towards someone he loves. Despite professing his love and feeling saved by this person, he is met with accusations of deceit. The mention of carrying fire, wading through a flood, and being dragged on a wire while being bathed in blood showcases the intensity and range of emotions Ray is experiencing, hinting at a tumultuous and possibly toxic relationship dynamic. The repeated questioning of "How long are you going to make me wait?" suggests impatience and a longing for resolution or closure in this complicated situation. The song ends with the repetition of the contemplation of letting his truck roll into the lake, as Ray struggles with his inner turmoil and the uncertainties of his circumstances.

Chance’s team has such a great foundation. He’s got a lot of people with just minor pitch issues from the blinds. That can definitely be worked out though. Really special voices

Love Ray's gentle approach to the song. Also love his breathy falsetto voice. I didn't expect a chair to turn but I'm glad C the R turned his, seeing the potential Ray had to compete. He could surprise many.

such a tender tone, interesting melisma. He took his time with this, so expressive, sweet falsetto flips then pulls out some bigger notes. Kudos for riding it out til the very end. - So You Wanna Be A Singer

Omg, his vibrato gave me chills. Perfect! He needs to embrace his falsetto range. His fear and lack of experience using it makes it breathy.

I get the feeling you can sing. Want to see you up there 🙏🏾🙏🏾
