Bucket List Beers
Ray Fulcher Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
When ya momma takes her eyes off of the Igloo ice
And that last one on prom night that finally does ya in
You wake up swearing you'll never drink it again
That's one of those
That you'll never forget
That's one of those
One of them once-in-a-lifetime
Drink-em-up-while-you-can kind
Six-pack souvenirs
Yeah, so, raise 'em up high
That's some of my
Bucket list beers
When you finally get to open
That one that you saved
For that army buddy gettin' off of that
Comin' home plane
And pouring one for daddy
On the day he retired
Here's to the last forty
And the next twenty-five
That's one of those
That you'll never forget
That's one of those
You'll be glad that ya did
One of them once-in-a-lifetime
Drink-em-up-while-you-can kind
Six-pack souvenirs
Yeah, so, raise 'em up high
That's some of my
Bucket list beers
Like a 12-ounce cold can stamp on time
Marking the highlights of a damn good life
Somebody somewhere tonight
Is holding one of those
That you'll never forget
That's one of those
You'll be glad that ya did
One of them once-in-a-lifetime
Drink-em-up-while-you-can kind
Six-pack souvenirs
Yeah, so, raise 'em up high
That's some of my
Bucket list beers
Yeah
Yeah, so, raise 'em up high
That's some of my
Bucket list beers
In Ray Fulcher's song "Bucket List Beers," the lyrics capture the significance and memories associated with certain beers throughout a person's life. The first verse reminisces about a memorable experience with alcohol during high school on the 4th of July. It highlights the feeling of rebellion and sneaking a drink when one's mother is momentarily distracted. The following line references a similar experience on prom night, where drinking too much leads to regret and the vow to never touch that particular beer again. These instances represent youthful adventures and the consequent lessons learned.
The chorus emphasizes the enduring impact of these beers. They become ingrained in one's memory, forever holding a special place. These are the moments that a person looks back on with fondness, cherishing the unique experiences and the lessons they brought. These beers are regarded as an essential part of one's bucket list, as they contribute to a life well-lived and diverse experiences.
The second verse conveys the spirit of shared moments and toasting with loved ones. It speaks about saving a particular beer to share with an army buddy returning home from deployment, symbolizing the camaraderie and celebration of reuniting. Additionally, the verse mentions pouring one for a father on the day of his retirement, signifying honoring achievements and milestones. It conveys the sentiment behind celebrating life's victories with a special beer, capturing the importance of relationships and commemorating significant events.
The final verse presents the universality of these experiences. It acknowledges that someone somewhere is currently enjoying one of these memorable beers, emphasizing that these moments are not exclusive to the singer alone. The lyrics reinforce the shared nature of these experiences and the widespread appreciation for the unique moments these beers signify. It concludes by restating the chorus, highlighting the lasting significance of these beers in the singer's own life and emphasizing their inclusion on his personal bucket list. Ultimately, the song celebrates the memories, connections, and joys that surround certain beers and the experiences they represent.
