My Way

And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and ev'ry highway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do and saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course, each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way
Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way
I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I've had my fill, my share of losing
And now, as tears subside, I find it all so amusing
To think I did all that
And may I say, not in a shy way,
"Oh, no, oh, no, not me, I did it my way"
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows and did it my way!
[instrumental]
Yes, it was my way
Ray Quinn's song "My Way" is a powerful and introspective statement about the life that he has lived. The song was originally written by Paul Anka and made famous by Frank Sinatra, but Quinn brings his own emotive power to the song. The lyrics themselves speak to the end of a journey, as Quinn faces the "final curtain" of his life. He says that he has lived a life that is "full," and that he has traveled every highway. He acknowledges that there have been regrets along the way, but he ultimately did everything in his life "his way."
Quinn also speaks to the challenges that he has faced in his life, describing moments when he "bit off more than he could chew." Throughout these challenges, he remained resilient and determined, ultimately standing tall and doing things his way. The song is deeply personal and emotive, speaking to a life well-lived and a journey that has ultimately been worth it.

I think i need to have a slight say here too. I love this kind of music, i'm only young but nevertheless the whole of my life i've followed swing&jazz around.. this version of My Way is.. amazing. Robbie Williams at Albert Hall, Frank Sinatra himself, they'd all be proud of a production like this. Truth is, Ray is living his dream and singing these type of songs in an amazing way. If you don't like him, don't watch his videos, simple as.

This version is much better than the original.

May I just point out that 'My Way was NOT written by Frank Sinatra as stated here. It was written by Paul Anka. Even Tom Jones considered recording it originally, but Sinatra did the best. I think you need age to really put across the true emotion of this song : )

Elvis Presley's version of my way was the best version. Had more feeling. And it touched more people. It made people believe. When I was probably saying my way. He was telling a story of his life, it seemed. Paul Anka wrote the song for Frank Sinatra. There was a story that they both at the time did not want Elvis Presley to record my way. The reason behind it from what I heard was that the song was written for Frank Sinatra that have a big hit with, and if Elvis Presley would have recorded it, it would have took it to a whole new level and Frank Sinatra would not had a big hit with the song. So Elvis Presley did record the song but you waited awhile, so Frank Sinatra could have a hit song. Before Elvis recorded my way. That's the kind of guy Elvis Presley was. He did not want to step on no one's feet.. but that was probably did stay in one of his concerts that my way was one of his favorite songs to perform. This is why during Elvis's last performance he sang my way, and it brought tears right to your eyes. And he perform that song better than any other time you ever did it. Which they were all great, but this last time his body was failing him his health was failing him, but his voice never failed

He sounds like Michael Buble...

Oh, & not forgetting Claude Francois & Jacques Revaux who I believe wrote the music.
