Formed i… Read Full Bio ↴Red Harvest was an industrial metal band from Oslo, Norway.
Formed in 1989 as a thrash project, the band released their first demo Ocultica that year, before releasing their debut album Nomindsland in 1992. From 1994, the band moved towards an experimental hybrid of prog, Gothic rock, and doom metal on There's Beauty in the Purity of Sadness (which spawned a video for the opening track "Wounds", gaining the band exposure on MTV), The Maztürnation, and Hybreed. In 1997 the band reached a wider audience supporting US goth-metal act Type O Negative.
With 1998's EP New Rage World Music the band perfected their unique progressive industrial tinged sound, and their follow-up Cold Dark Matter was released in 2001 to very strong reviews. In 2002, Sick Transit Gloria Mundi was nominated for a Norwegian grammy and an alternative grammy in the Best Metal Album category. The band released their latest album, Internal Punishment Programs, in 2004.
Their current sound draws elements from industrial metal bands like Godflesh and Ministry, the experimental doom of Neurosis, Voivod-influenced prog-thrash, fellow Norwegian black metal bands like Emperor and Darkthrone, and certain styles of electronica such as drum'n'bass, EBM, and gabba.
According to their official Website, www.redharvest.com, Red Harvest disbanded in May 2010, stating no specific reasons for the breakup.

Lock me up, tie me down, this is the cure, that heals my mind
Lost in a world of black, trapped within naked walls
Is it my fear of reality, or the realities fear of me?
Am I destructive, they say I am, am I a danger to society?
Why do they keep me inside this cage, once you're inside there's no way out
Cuffed inside these naked walls, an none ever hear my calls
I cry, I beg, I pray to be free, but there's no hope in hell for me
Lock me up die me down
Change my will, change my soul
Give me dope, punish me
Hide me from reality
The cure
Who is the fool I say, who is the ones who make all things blow away
And call me a lunie huh?
You are like mice, lost in the haze, inside a world built as a maze
You're moving on, you act so wrong, you think it's strange I'll never cope?
Death, is your way
Power, is your game
Truth, you ignore
Falseness, you obey
I'm not the one who should be here, you are the ones, you are the ones
Confined within, I live my life inside
Lock me up, tie me down,
Chain my will, change my soul
Give me dope, punish me
Hide me from reality
Red Harvest's song The Cure speaks to mental illness and society's treatment of those who suffer from it. The lyrics describe a person who is restrained, trapped in a world of blackness, and subjected to various forms of treatment including electric shocks, injections, and drugs. The individual is questioning whether it is their fear of reality or if reality fears them. They have been labeled as destructive and dangerous to society, yet they cry, beg, and pray for freedom. However, the system keeps them confined, inside a cage with no hope of escape. The lyrics also hint at a critique of society's acceptance of false realities, power games, and the disregard for truth. The individual believes they are not the one who should be locked up; instead, it is society that needs to be contained.
