testo_"
Tree Song" von René Aubry

If I were a tree, in the deep blue sea.
Would you come right up for to be so free?
Would you come right up for to be so free?
If I were a tree, what is it to thee?
What to I would see of you and me?
What to I would see of you and me?
If I were a tree in the heavens, in the heavens sun.
Would there be a reason and the answers done?
Would there be a reason and the answers done?
If I were a tree, as the words decree.
Would you bow so low when then you need?
Would you bow so low when then you need?
If I were a tree, and you made a key.

Would the door open heart for man to be?
Would the door open heart for man to be?

Overall Meaning

The song "Tree Song" by René Aubry tells a story of a tree, pondering the significance of its existence and the relationship it shares with the world around it. The tree asks a series of rhetorical questions to the listener, inviting them to consider the beauty and mystery of nature. It first asks if the listener would come to visit if the tree were in the deep blue sea, suggesting that the connection between humans and nature is universal and not limited by geographical boundaries. The tree then contemplates what it would see of the listener and itself if it were a tree on earth. It moves on to ask about the possibility of finding answers to life's complexities if it were a tree in the heavens, suggesting that the tree possesses a wisdom beyond what the mere human mind can comprehend. The song ends by asking if the listeners would use the key to unlock the door that leads to their hearts and open themselves up to the beauty and wonders of nature.

The simplicity of the song is what makes it so beautiful. The song's message is more about feeling than it is about a complex narrative. The lyrics are crafted to make the listener feel something, and it does that in such a powerful way that the message transcends the medium itself. The song is a reminder that sometimes the simplest things in life are the most profound.

Calm rhythm, greenery in the music video, guitar and accordion, cool trees painted and moving like people. Good.

I was maybe 11 or 12 (1990 / 1991) and my dad had just rented Solstice for NES. But before I could play it he made me come to some sort of arts exhibition where Rene Aubry was performing, leaving my brothers home to play it without me. I was pretty upset over it at first, until I heard their music, and this song especially. The music, the words, the dance - I had never experienced anything like it before, and it was beautiful.

My dad just passed away last night after battling months with liver and kidney failure, on top of cancer. I realized tonight listening to this music that I never did thank him for dragging me there that night against my initial objection. It was such a wonderful experience that I'll cherish forever, and this song gives me comfort hearing it, because it was also one of his favorites.
