In 1981, Grzegorz Ciechowski, taking over the as the new head, moved the group's sound from prog rock closer to New Wave and rechristened the band Republika. He did not, however, completely abandon the band's roots; rather, he adapted Ian Anderson's "heavy-metal flute" into a "New-Wave flute" which featured prominently in such early tracks as Nowe Sytuacje and Kombinat.
The group disbanded in 2001, following Ciechowski's death (cardiac aneurysm).
The plan

As it is in the plan
We'll know exactly what to do and feel
In five or seven years
Well calculated wars and treaties
A perforated world
At last everything will happen
According to a plan to a plan
A great plan for many years
A great plan for many years-years
We'll dance together cha-cha-cha-cha
If it is in the plan
We'll laugh and suffer pray and murder
According to the plan
And maybe one day I will kiss you
If it is in the plan
If it's included in the schedule
Of what I can't and can can't and can
Can't and can
A great plan for many years
A great plan for many years
A great plan for many years
We'll build a ministry of planning
And plan the world ahead
We'll calculate the past and future
Of all the universe
We'll fix a plan for all the planets
A plan for all the stars
Computers finally will work out
A plan for all of us all of us
All of us
A great plan for many years
A great plan for many years
A great plan for many years
For fifty years for a hundred years
A thousand years a million years
A billion years a trillion years
A trillion years
The lyrics to Republika's song "The Plan" depict a vision of a meticulously planned future. The song suggests that if everything goes according to this plan, then humanity will have a clear understanding of what to do and how to feel in the next five to seven years. The lyrics mention "well-calculated wars and treaties" and a "perforated world," indicating that even conflicts and global changes are accounted for and manipulated according to this grand plan. There is a sense of both control and inevitability in the lyrics, as everything is expected to happen precisely as planned.
The song highlights the idea of a "great plan" that spans many years, perhaps even reaching into the distant future. It imagines a world where people will dance, laugh, suffer, pray, and even murder, all according to the plan. There is a level of fatalism implied in the lyrics, as the singer mentions that even a potential romantic interaction, like a kiss, would only occur if it is part of the plan and is included in the schedule. The lyrics further suggest that this plan extends beyond human affairs, as there is a mention of planning the universe, planets, and stars, with computers playing a role in working out these vast plans. The repetition of the phrase "A great plan for many years" emphasizes the grandiosity and longevity of this envisioned plan.
Overall, "The Plan" serves as a commentary on the desire for control and certainty in an unpredictable world. It explores the idea that humans yearn for structure and purpose, even if it means surrendering to a plan that dictates their actions and destinies.
