Cornhole Song
Rhett And Link Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And granted, my vertical leap is still pretty pathetic
But now I'm the champion on the tailgate scene
8 bags, 2 boards, 2 holes, that's all I need.
Most sports require all sorts of skills
But I prefer the ones I can do while consuming meals
You gotta try it before you knock it
Try to name another sport to top it
Cornhole (Cornhole!)
Good for your soul
Cornhole (Cornhole!)
An Olympic sport by 2024
Halfway through the game we don't remember the score
But we're happy to start all over because it means we get to cornhole more (Cornhole!)
Who wouldv'e thought that a couple of guys could
Contribute so much to the greater good
Just by cuttin' a little ol' hole in a peice of plywood
There's a void in my soul
Shaped like a cornhole (Cornhole!)
I love it so much, from this moment on
I'm changing my name to Don Cornholio
Everybody was cornholin', back throwin'
It's good for your, good for your soul
and the man with the boards is the man never bored
I say, Hey
Everybody was cornholin', back throwin'
It's good for your, good for your soul
And good for your back and better for your image
No pressure, my brother, 'cause it's always a scrimmage
I'm tailgatin', party makin'
I'm throwin' my sacks and there's no debatin'
This has got to be the greatest sport ever invented
There's a hole over there, I'm gonna throw my bag in it.
The cornhole
song by Rhett and Link is a light-hearted tribute to the game of cornhole. The song begins with the singer admitting that he used to be called unathletic, with a poor vertical leap, but now he's the champion of the tailgate scene. He has found his niche in cornhole, a game that doesn't require much physical agility but still lends itself well to competition. The song lyrics highlight the simplicity and accessibility of the game, with only eight bags, two boards, and two holes needed to play. The singer boasts that he can win while holding an open cold one in his back pocket, thus emphasizing the game's laid-back nature.
The lyrics of the song go on to joke about the purported benefits of playing cornhole. They suggest that even though it may not be a sport that requires many skills, it's still "good for your soul" and even "an Olympic sport by 2024." The songwriters also suggest that cornhole is a game that can be played while consuming meals, putting it on par with other more conventional sports. The humorous and playful tone of the song is perfectly suited to the concept of cornhole, which is often viewed as a lighthearted pastime that is best enjoyed with friends and family.
Overall, the cornhole song is a fun tribute to a game that has quietly become a fixture of American pop culture. Its silly lyrics and catchy melody are sure to bring a smile to the faces of anyone who's ever enjoyed a game of cornhole.
