Worry
Rhodes Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Seems so cold
See my worry
Oh, they call
All the time

See my heart
Be my worry
Clothes too tight
Draw the line

I close my eyes
To dream away
I turn to you
Now I'm all there

When I wake up
Will you see me?
When I wake up
Will you come see me?

Feels like day
Sudden morning
Off my reign
Fear the pain

I close my eyes
To dream away
I turn to you
And now I'm older

When I wake up
Will you see me?
When I wake up
Will you come see me?

Is it too late, too late
Too late, too late, too late now?
Oh, is it too late, too late
Too late, too late, too late now?

It's alright
And you know that, don't you?
In time
How it all works out

It's alright, it's alright
It's alright, it's alright

Is it too late, too late
Too late, too late, too late now?
Oh, is it too late, too late
Too late, too late, too late now?

Is it too late, too late
Too late, too late, too late now?
Oh, is it too late, too late
Too late, too late, too late now?

Is it too late, too late
Too late, too late, too late now?
Oh, is it too late, too late
Too late, too late, too late now?

Is it too late, too late
Too late, too late, too late now?

Oh, is it too late, too late
Too late, too late, too late now?

Overall Meaning

Rhodes's song "Worry" is a poignant reflection on the universal human experience of anxiety and fear, and the plea for comfort and reassurance in times of distress. The opening lines of the song immediately evoke a sense of isolation and vulnerability, as Rhodes sings "Seems so cold/ See my worry/ Oh, they call/ All the time." Here, he captures the feeling of being overwhelmed by worries, and the burden of being alone with one's fears. The repetition of the phrase "See my worry" highlights the desperation for someone to take notice and offer a listening ear.

The second verse of the song draws on the physical symptoms of anxiety, as Rhodes sings "Clothes too tight/ Draw the line." The use of clothing as a metaphor for feeling constrained and suffocated by one's fears is a powerful image, further emphasising the suffocating nature of anxiety. The chorus of the song is a plea for someone to be there to offer support, as Rhodes sings "When I wake up/ Will you see me?/ When I wake up/ Will you come see me?".

As the song progresses, Rhodes seems to shift from a position of helplessness to one of resilience, as he sings "It's alright/ And you know that, don't you?/ In time/ How it all works out". Here, he acknowledges that while fear and uncertainty are a part of life, things will eventually work out, and that it's important to hold on to hope.

Overall, Rhodes's "Worry" is a moving portrayal of the emotional and physical toll of anxiety, and the need for human connection and understanding in times of distress.

I find myself wondering/thinking the same things. It all works out in the end, but only time will tell if "working out" means you're gone from my life for good and I stop caring, or things change and you come back into my life again when we're both better suited for it. Either way...It all works out.
