Rhythms del Mundo is a nonprofit collaborative album, which fuses an all-star cast of Cuban muscians including Ibrahim Ferrer and Omara Portuondo of the the Buena Vista Social Club with tracks from US, UK and Irish artists such as U2, Coldplay, Sting, Jack Johnson and Maroon 5 , Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs and many others.
Background
Kenny Young, Founder and Trustee of APE, explains how the project emerged: "The project was sparked off by the devastating 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. The idea came in to do a project with The Buena Vista Social Club to fuse their Latin sounds with Western artists and their familiar popular songs. The project evolved when more environmental disasters struck -- the Asian Earthquakes and Hurricane Katrina. But the big picture was climate change. You can call these natural disasters but after all the research and scientific data, we know that we're at least partly to blame for some of these disasters. Global warming is now in the news daily. If we don't act in the time frame our experts give us, our grandchildren will curse us eternally."
Thom Yorke comments, "We need a law, we need to have the Government put climate change in its place. If you leave industry to sort it out on a voluntary basis that's never going to happen. So everybody, if they've got any concerns about climate, change has to register that concern with their Government officials because it's the only way to go."[1]
Charity
Album proceeds will benefit the environmental nonprofit organization Artists' Project Earth (APE), which raises funds for disaster relief efforts and climate change awareness. The artists on this album fully support the record as a show of commitment to the music and to the cause that it endorses.
Music
The main recording sessions took place in Havana at Abdala Studios from April 2005 to June 2006. While the majority of the vocals remain the same, the musicans of the Buena Vista Social Club took the original orchestration from each song and created something utterly unique, casting their trademark mastery over each track. "Rhythms Del Mundo" includes reworked tracks such as "Clocks" by Coldplay, "Better Together" by Jack Johnson, "She Will be Loved" by Maroon 5, "High and Dry" by Radiohead and "Dancing Shoes" by Arctic Monkeys.
"Rhythms Del Mundo" also includes music by famed Cuban singers Omara Portuondo and the last vocal recording of Afro-Cuban bolero singer, Ibrahim Ferrer, who passed away in 2005. The other Cuban musicians from The Buena Vista Social Club who perform on this album are as follows: Barbarito Torres, Amandito Valdes, Virgilio Valdes, Angel Terri Domech, Manuel 'Guajiro' Mirabal, Orlando Lopez 'Cachaito' and Demetrio Muniz. This project is the brainchild and concept of Kenny Young and the Berman Brothers. The trio also produced the 16 new original recordings on the CD.

Under The Bridge
Rhythms Del Mundo Lyrics

Like I don't have a partner
Sometimes I feel
Like my only friend
Is the city I live in
The city of Angels
Lonely as I am
Together we cry
I drive on her streets
'Cause she's my companion
I walk through her hills
'Cause she knows who I am
She sees my good deeds and
She kisses me windy and
I never worry
Now that is a lie
I don't ever wanna feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way
I don't ever want to feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all that way (yeah yeah yeah)
It's hard to believe
That there's nobody out there
It's hard to believe
That I'm all alone
At least I have her love
The city she loves me
Lonely as I am
Together we cry
I don't ever wanna feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way
I don't ever want to feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way (yeah yeah yeah)
Ooh no (no no yeah yeah)
Love me I say yeah yeah
Under the bridge downtown
Is where I drew some blood
Under the bridge "
I could not get enough
Under the bridge "
Forgot about my love
Under the bridge "
I gave my life away (yeah yeah yeah)
Ooh no (no no yeah yeah)
Here I stay yeah yeah
Here I stay
The song "Under the Bridge" by Red Hot Chili Peppers was written by lead singer Anthony Kiedis, and is a melancholy reflection on his life and his relationship with the city of Los Angeles. The lyrics describe feelings of loneliness and isolation, but also a deep connection with the city that is both a source of comfort and pain. The first verse suggests that Kiedis feels like he doesn't have a partner in life, and that the city is his only friend. He describes Los Angeles as the "city of angels", which is a reference to the city's full name, "El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles del Río de Porciúncula", which means "The Town of Our Lady the Queen of Angels of the River Porciúncula". Despite this connection with the city, Kiedis still feels lonely, and describes himself as "together [with Los Angeles], we cry".
The second verse describes the physical connection that Kiedis has to the city of Los Angeles. He drives on her streets and walks through her hills, and feels that the city knows him. However, he acknowledges that he has lied when he says that he never worries, suggesting that despite the comfort he feels in the city, he still has concerns and anxieties that trouble him. The chorus repeats the longing for the "place he loves", suggesting that Kiedis is searching for a sense of belonging and connection that he feels he has lost.
The final verse includes the song's most famous lyrics, which describe Kiedis's experience of finding a sense of peace and belonging under a bridge in downtown Los Angeles. It is unclear what specifically happened under the bridge, but Kiedis suggests that he "drew some blood" and "gave [his] life away". The final line, "Here I stay", suggests that Kiedis has found a home in this place, even though it is an unconventional and even dangerous location.
Overall, "Under the Bridge" is a powerful and emotional song that reflects on the complex relationship that people have with the places they call home. It is a reminder that despite the beauty and familiarity of a place, there can still be feelings of isolation and disconnection.

This city is the city of Angels
Lonely as I am

Because this city is my companion
I walk through her hills
I walk through the hills of this city

Son tantas las cosas que hice
Canta misteriosa voz
Suave me mata su ritmo
En sus acordes yo he visto toda mi vida
Pasando por sus palabras
Su emocion
Oi que alguien cantaba una buena cancion
Era un muchacho dulce
Un angel
Dije yo
Atras quedan temores
Toda la soledad.
Un nuevo sol inunda, entera la ciudad
La conoci cantando
Con su cancion me encanto
Una emocion increible
Canta mi vida esa voz
Cancion que me esta matando
Y me despierta
Su ritmo
Tan dulces sueños
Dormidos. nuevos caminos
