The Disease In Me
Ritual Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Comes out my chest
It leads me somewhere, I'm still confused
I think my path intersects with you
I don't mean to
I don't know what people want
I just know what I want so
Can't imagine what you'd want from me
Just as a joke I imagined a couple things
I was like the Kreayshawn to your SGP
I could be anywhere if you needed me
I could prove anybody wrong about anything
You've seen the worst in me
If you find my heart's in tatters
Just remind me stupid things really matter
We could do nothing and
Put out static forevеr
If you find out my heart's in tatters
Pleasе remind me that stupid things
Matter more than anything
I got a red, red ribbon in my hair
You're so cute goddamn you're so dumb
I got a red, red ribbon in my hair
I try to signal something
But you're so ignorant
I like it
I was like the Kreayshawn
To your Spaceghostpurrp i could do anything
You know I'll make it hurt
I could do anything wrong if you needed me
I could do anything wrong
I was like the Kreayshawn to your SGP
I could be anywhere if you needed me
You know I'm lying, there's no guessing
You've seen the worst in me
In "The Disease In Me" by Ritual, the lyrics reflect a sense of confusion and a struggle to understand oneself and others. The singer describes following a "motion line" that emanates from their chest, symbolizing the inner drive and desire to find their purpose or direction in life. However, despite their efforts, they admit to being still confused about their path and how it intersects with someone else.
The second paragraph delves into the singer's self-awareness and their focus on personal desires rather than conforming to external expectations. They acknowledge that they may not fully comprehend what others want from them, but they are determined to fulfill their own desires. The reference to imagining a couple of things as a joke suggests the singer's tendency to playfully consider different perspectives or possibilities.
The chorus of the song introduces a vulnerable side to the singer. They mention their heart being in tatters, which alludes to emotional pain or vulnerability. Here, they seek reassurance and validation from someone else, asking for a reminder that even trivial or "stupid" things can hold importance and meaning. The desire is to find purpose and connection through these seemingly insignificant aspects of life.
The fourth paragraph adds another layer to the singer's personality. They describe themselves wearing a red ribbon in their hair, which can be seen as a symbol of individuality or a statement of uniqueness. However, the singer expresses frustration towards someone else, calling them cute yet ignorant. This juxtaposition suggests a mix of admiration and exasperation, possibly pointing to a complicated relationship dynamic.
The final paragraph reflects the singer's willingness to adapt and be there for someone else. The references to Kreayshawn and Spaceghostpurrp, who are both musicians known for their distinct styles and approaches, reinforce the singer's versatility and willingness to do anything for the person they address. Despite acknowledging their tendency for wrongdoings, the singer emphasizes the closeness and understanding they share with this person, as well as the knowledge that the other person has seen their worst side.
In summary, "The Disease In Me" explores themes of self-discovery, confusion, personal desires, vulnerability, and complicated relationships. The lyrics signify a search for purpose and understanding, while also touching upon the singer's ability to adapt and be supportive, despite their flaws.
