She was born in Chipiona, Cádiz, Spain and was nicknamed "The Greatest".
Jurado began performing flamenco at a very young age, debuting on the big screen in 1962 with "Los guerrilleros", acting alongside Manolo Escobar. She also played a main role in 1966's "Proceso a una estrella" and 1971's "Una chica casi decente". While temporarily living in Argentina, the Spanish diva participated in a successful musical called "La zapatera prodigiosa", based on Federico García Lorca's work. After teaming with composer Manuel Alejandro, Rocío Jurado became a major and beloved figure on the Latin music scene, acclaimed throughout America and Spain after releasing "Muera el amor" and "Señora", among other hits.

Si No Te Hubieras Ido
Rocio Jurado Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
y no se que hacer
despierto y te recuerdo al amanecer
me espera otro dia por vivir sin ti
el espejo no me miente, me veo tan diferente
me haces falta tu.
si no te hubieras ido seria tan feliz.
si no te hubieras ido seria tan feliz.
Rocío Jurado's "Si No Te Hubieras Ido" is a heart-rending song about the pain of missing someone who has left. The first verse establishes the depth of the singer's longing: "I miss you more than ever/ And I don't know what to do/ I wake up and remember you at dawn/ Another day awaits me without you/ The mirror doesn't lie to me/ I look so different/ I need you so much." These lyrics paint a vivid picture of the singer's pain, as she wakes up each day to the reality of her beloved's absence.
As the song progresses, the singer reflects on how much the world has changed since her loved one left. "People come and go, always the same/ The rhythm of life seems wrong to me/ It was different when you were here/ Yes, it was different when you were here." This verse highlights the sense of disconnection and disorientation that comes with the absence of a loved one. The singer is acutely aware of how much she misses her beloved and how much his presence once defined her experience of the world.
In the second verse, the singer pulls no punches about how hard it is to live without the person she loves. "There's nothing harder than living without you/ Suffering in the hope of seeing you again/ The cold of my body asks for you/ And I don't know where you are.../ If you hadn't gone, I would be so happy." These lyrics are a poignant reminder of how much we rely on others to provide meaning and comfort in our lives. The singer's plea for her beloved to return is a testament to the depth of her love and the lengths she would go to have him back.
Overall, "Si No Te Hubieras Ido" is a powerful reflection on the pain of love and loss. Through its evocative lyrics and haunting melody, it captures the essence of what it means to miss someone deeply and to long for their return.
