Stewart's music career began in 1962 when he took up busking with a harmonica. In 1963, he joined The Dimensions as a harmonica player and vocalist. In 1964, Stewart joined Long John Baldry and the All Stars before moving to the Jeff Beck Group in 1967. Joining Faces in 1969, he also maintained a solo career releasing his debut album that year. Stewart's early albums were a fusion of rock, folk music, soul music, and R&B. His third album, 1971's Every Picture Tells a Story, was his breakthrough, topping the charts in the UK, US, Canada and Australia, as did its ballad "Maggie May". His 1972 follow-up album, Never a Dull Moment, also reached number one in the UK and Australia, while going top three in the US and Canada. Its single, "You Wear It Well", topped the chart in the UK and was a moderate hit elsewhere.
After Stewart had a handful more UK top ten hits, the Faces broke up in 1975. Stewart's next few hit singles were ballads with "Sailing", off the 1975 UK and Australian number-one album, Atlantic Crossing, becoming a hit in the UK and the Netherlands (number one), Germany (number four) and other countries, but barely charting in North America. A Night on the Town (1976), his fifth straight chart-topper in the UK, began a three-album run of going number one or top three in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia with each release. That album's "Tonight's the Night (Gonna Be Alright)" spent almost two months at number one in the US and Canada, and made the top five in other countries. Foot Loose & Fancy Free (1977) contained the hit "You're in My Heart (The Final Acclaim)" as well as the rocker "Hot Legs". Blondes Have More Fun (1978) and its disco-tinged "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" both went to number one in Canada, Australia and the US, with "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" also hitting number one in the UK and the top ten in other countries. Stewart's albums regularly hit the upper rungs of the charts in the Netherlands throughout the 70s and in Sweden from 1975 onward.
After a disco and new wave period in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Stewart's music turned to a soft rock/middle-of-the-road style, with most of his albums reaching the top ten in the UK, Germany and Sweden, but faring less well in the US. The single "Rhythm of My Heart" was a top five hit in the UK, US and other countries, with its source album, 1991's Vagabond Heart, becoming, at number ten in the US and number two in the UK, his highest-charting album in a decade. In 1993, he collaborated with Bryan Adams and Sting on the power ballad "All for Love", which went to number one in many countries. In the early 2000s, he released a series of successful albums interpreting the Great American Songbook.
In 2008, Billboard magazine ranked him the 17th most successful artist on the "Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists". A Grammy and Brit Award recipient, he was voted at No. 33 in Q Magazine's list of the Top 100 Greatest Singers of all time. As a solo artist, Stewart was inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006, and he was inducted a second time into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 as a member of Faces.

No, I can't do that
Why don't you touch me man?
No, I can't do that
Sit down on my big grass bed
Oh I must then do that
I know you fancy me
I may do that
I don't want to get married
It's too expensive
I don't want to get married
Can't stand her relatives
I don't want to get married
I have no motor car
I don't want to get married
I have no furniture, yeah that's right
Why don't you call me up?
No I can't do that
Why don't you ask me out?
I can't do that
Come around and meet my mum
I may do that
She has some special rum
Ooh I may do that, oh yeah
I don't want to get married
I love my motorbike
I don't want to get married
I'm learning bagpipe
I don't want to get married
I can't afford it
I don't want to get married
She lives in Shoreditch, yeah, Shoreditch
I'm not in your way
Come on now
Give up that football team
I'll never do that
Stop going down the pub
You most be joking I'll never do that
Have you no future plan
Why would I do that
Are you a gay man?
I've not tried that
I don't want to get married
I love my cat and dog
I don't want to get married
I think I'll write a blog
I don't want to get married
It's not in my DNA
I don't want to get married
I am only forty-eight, forty-eight, forty-eight, forty-eight
The lyrics of "I Don't Want to Get Married" by Rod Stewart express a strong desire of the singer to remain uncommitted and independent. The first verse starts with an invitation to lay down with the singer, which is refused by the other person. The singer then suggests touching, but this is also turned down. The third line mentions a big grass bed, which the other person agrees to sit down on. Only then does the singer acknowledge that the other person fancies them, and they may consider it. The second verse continues to highlight the singer's commitment issues, presenting various reasons for not wanting to get married, such as expense, in-laws, and lack of material possessions. The chorus of the song is a repetition of the singer's refusal to get married, citing varied reasons such as a love for a motorbike, learning bagpipe, and being too young.
The song is a humorous and lighthearted take on the topic of marriage and commitment, with the playful nature of the lyrics juxtaposing the societal pressure to settle down. The use of repetition and rhyme (such as "I don't want to get married/I have no furniture" or "I don't want to get married/I love my cat and dog") creates a catchy chorus that is easy to sing along to.

I can tell by your eyes
That you've probably been crying forever
And the stars in the sky don't mean nothing
To you, they're a mirror
I don't wanna talk about it
How you broke my heart
If I stay here just a little bit longer
If I stay here, won't you listen to my heart?
Oh, my heart
If I stand all alone
Will the shadows hide the colors of my heart?
Blue for the tears, black for the night's fears
The stars in the sky don't mean nothing to you
They're just a mirror
I don't wanna talk about it
How you broke my heart
If I stay here just a little bit longer
If I stay here, won't you listen to my heart?
Oh, my heart

@@saluamokayad2518 Eu posso dizer pelos seus olhos
Que você provavelmente
Chorando desde sempre,
E as estrelas no céu
Não significa nada para você,
Eles são um espelho.
Eu não quero falar sobre isso,
Como você quebrou meu coração.
Se eu ficar aqui um pouco mais,
Se eu ficar aqui,
Você não vai ouvir meu coração, uau, coração?
Se eu ficar sozinho,
A sombra se esconderá
A cor do meu coração;
Azul pelas lágrimas,
Preto para os medos da noite.
A estrela no céu
Não significa nada para você,
Eles são um espelho.
Eu não quero falar sobre isso,
Como você quebrou meu coração.
Se eu ficar aqui um pouco mais,
Se eu ficar aqui,
Você não vai ouvir meu coração, uau, coração?
Eu não quero falar sobre isso,
Como você partiu esse velho coração.
Se eu ficar aqui um pouco mais,
Se eu ficar aqui,
Você não vai ouvir meu coração, uau, coração?
Meu coração, uau, coração.h
