Stewart's music career began in 1962 when he took up busking with a harmonica. In 1963, he joined The Dimensions as a harmonica player and vocalist. In 1964, Stewart joined Long John Baldry and the All Stars before moving to the Jeff Beck Group in 1967. Joining Faces in 1969, he also maintained a solo career releasing his debut album that year. Stewart's early albums were a fusion of rock, folk music, soul music, and R&B. His third album, 1971's Every Picture Tells a Story, was his breakthrough, topping the charts in the UK, US, Canada and Australia, as did its ballad "Maggie May". His 1972 follow-up album, Never a Dull Moment, also reached number one in the UK and Australia, while going top three in the US and Canada. Its single, "You Wear It Well", topped the chart in the UK and was a moderate hit elsewhere.
After Stewart had a handful more UK top ten hits, the Faces broke up in 1975. Stewart's next few hit singles were ballads with "Sailing", off the 1975 UK and Australian number-one album, Atlantic Crossing, becoming a hit in the UK and the Netherlands (number one), Germany (number four) and other countries, but barely charting in North America. A Night on the Town (1976), his fifth straight chart-topper in the UK, began a three-album run of going number one or top three in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia with each release. That album's "Tonight's the Night (Gonna Be Alright)" spent almost two months at number one in the US and Canada, and made the top five in other countries. Foot Loose & Fancy Free (1977) contained the hit "You're in My Heart (The Final Acclaim)" as well as the rocker "Hot Legs". Blondes Have More Fun (1978) and its disco-tinged "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" both went to number one in Canada, Australia and the US, with "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" also hitting number one in the UK and the top ten in other countries. Stewart's albums regularly hit the upper rungs of the charts in the Netherlands throughout the 70s and in Sweden from 1975 onward.
After a disco and new wave period in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Stewart's music turned to a soft rock/middle-of-the-road style, with most of his albums reaching the top ten in the UK, Germany and Sweden, but faring less well in the US. The single "Rhythm of My Heart" was a top five hit in the UK, US and other countries, with its source album, 1991's Vagabond Heart, becoming, at number ten in the US and number two in the UK, his highest-charting album in a decade. In 1993, he collaborated with Bryan Adams and Sting on the power ballad "All for Love", which went to number one in many countries. In the early 2000s, he released a series of successful albums interpreting the Great American Songbook.
In 2008, Billboard magazine ranked him the 17th most successful artist on the "Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists". A Grammy and Brit Award recipient, he was voted at No. 33 in Q Magazine's list of the Top 100 Greatest Singers of all time. As a solo artist, Stewart was inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006, and he was inducted a second time into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 as a member of Faces.

The Day Will
Rod Stewart Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
A flash of fire will light the children's face
Hopelessly, their last tears they will cry
Be too late to ask our leaders why
The day will come, a day of sorrow
A day we'll see them strollin' out to tomorrow.
The song of life that once we knew so well
Will not be heard as we're led into hell
And down your street the blood will flow like wine
The day will come, a day of sorrow
A day we'll see them strollin' out tomorrow
The day will come and swallow up the sun
We can't escape, we've got nowhere to run
The generals must be found some work to do
The medals must be bought by me and you, yeah
The day will come of pain and sorrow
And we'll see them strollin' out tomorrow
The day will come
The day will come
The day will come
"The Day Will Come" by Rod Stewart is a song that paints a picture of a bleak and ominous future. The lyrics speak about a time when the world is in ruin and the leaders we trusted have led us down a path of destruction. The song begins with the phrase "The day will come when out of empty space, a flash of fire will light the children's face", which suggests the occurrence of a catastrophic event that will impact all of humanity. The line "Hopelessly, their last tears they will cry, be too late to ask our leaders why" serves as a warning that the actions of our leaders, and our own lack of action, will cause the destruction of everything we hold dear.
As the song progresses, the lyrics become more somber and foreboding. The line "Death is close, yes I can see the sign, and down your street the blood will flow like wine" suggests a violent end to civilization. The lyrics speak of a time when the song of life that we once knew so well will not be heard as we are led into hell. This highlights the unfairness of the situation and the helplessness of the people caught in the crossfire.

Oh Ali, Your heart must be so crushed. Sorry for you painful loss. 💔 Death is the hardest, most painful experience in life... Your husband sounded like a true romantic. What a gift. ❤️
I don't know you, but my heart hurts for you. Losing a loved one changes everything, especially the loss of a mate.
The tears that you have shed and the grief in your heart do not go unnoticed by the one who created the marriage arrangement.
A comforting scripture is found at Psalm 34:18:
"Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit."
This shows that there is a special closeness between Jehovah God and those who are hurting for various reasons.
But how close is Jehovah to the brokenhearted?
The answer is given in terms that we can understand at Psalm 56:8
"You keep track of my wandering do collect my tears in your skin bottle. Are they not recorded in your book?"
Where is the proximity mentioned?
Think... How close would someone have to be to you to literally catch the tears that stream down your face, perhaps dripping from your chin? From your eyes?
Very close! ❤️ Picture in your minds eye a friend who performs that literal task... Now you are beginning to see how tenderly your Father would perform this task...❤️
But there is more. *What do you do with your tears😢😭 when you cry?*🤧
You wipe them *away*. They go on your hands, pants, shirt sleeves, and then off to the laundry to be washed, never seen again.
If you happen to have a tissue, those tears end up in the trash. 🗑️
Not so with Jehovah!❤️ He stand close, catches those tears, directing them with his hand into his bottle. *Then your Father keeps them.
God, CHOOSES to write them down.❤️ Reassuring us that not only will he remember, but he takes the time to write down the feelings that you cried out with those tears. So that they will be before him, long after you have forgotten about them.
And what is ahead?
❤️ Revelation 21:3,4 ❤️
❤️ Isaiah 25:8 ❤️
❤️ *Revelation 7:17*❤️
They all give the same answer. Jehovah himself wipes away the tears.❤️ No delegation. Just his hand on you, wiping away your tears once and for all time.❤️❤️❤️
This is Jehovah's most beloved quality. His love for you is not only more than the love your mother or father, sister, friend, or brother.
Jehovah's love for you far exceeds the love you have for yourself....
Well, what might your Father plan to do figuratively with those memoirs of your tears?
Each and every reason that you have ever hurt, no matter how long ago, that's when he will open up his book to your name... That's when he will check off every tear you have ever cried, making sure that none are missed.
The God of love, Jehovah God, promises to bring back to us our loved ones who have fallen asleep in death.
"Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out." - John 5:28,29
Jehovah not only wipes away your tears now, but has arranged at great cost to himself a way permanently remove your grief by giving your dear husband back to you. ❤️❤️❤️

My mom loved Rod Stewart. I have heard this song from childhood and she would sing along with Rod. Mom has been gone 10 years now but I can still hear her singing this and my heart breaks a little more.

Just saw this message, now two years on. I hope you've kept going and have thrived. I heard once that a great love cut short demands great pain, it deserves it.

Surely this song will make him present and make your time easier to bear. Sorry for your loss.
