Watched it again just now, for about the 20th time. What I noticed this time: no flashy clothing, no special effects, no fancy camera angles, no body piercings or tattoos, minimal makeup, less than perfect teeth, no choreography, no hyper emotional gyrations or screaming, plain black background, just a close-up of her face, singing a song. Mary is very pretty, but I wish the video wasn't one continuous extreme closeup.
But if simplicity is your thing there are plenty of talented artists still practicing the craft. Not everything is Meatloaf/Kiss levels of presentation either.
Leaving aside that Dylan is somehow still making albums, Adele is active. Samara Joy and Laufey are reviving old Jazz standards for genZ. Lana Del Rey, Phoebe Bridgers, Ichiko Aoba, and plenty more are making amazing music. The only difference is it wasn't made 50 years ago so that it can evoke nostalgia.

I remember sitting in the cafe with my dad pregnant at 17 my dad had cancer.this song came on and l saw our reflection in the glass knowing this was the last time we would have this time together ,l had tears and looked over and noticed the tears in his eyes. It was a special moment out of 6 kids i was the middle child and i was closer ti him than the others it caused a lot of trouble in the family ,but l knew it was because l always took the time to talk to him and listen to him,he was a sad man that before l was born there was a fire and he carried hus dead baby boy out of the burning house. I looked just like him with blonde curly hair and ornery while my sisters had dark straight hair and didn't talk to him and was better behaved ,but l on the other hand made him talk to me and it made him laugh .That song reminded me how glad l was that l got to know him before he died

My dads name was Joe, he heard that part and thats when l realized he was listening l saw him wipe a tear and thats just an image ill never forget , he looked up and saw my face he knew then it was the last time he would be able to go anywhere

Yes, amon106, I'm here because the other day I was reflecting on my youth and found myself thinking "those were the days . . ." I think this song is timeless, truly a classic that will have meaning for every generation (if only they'll listen to it!).
