Miracles
Ron Sexsmith Lyrics

In reality's disguise, our shadow below us
And the stars up above
It's a miracle, my love, miracle, my love
There are miracles appearing in broad daylight
To a cynical world so blind with both of us knowing
There's so much to dream of
How just a song appears in the night
And what was wrong seems to be right
There seems to be life
And all that was heavy seems to be light
It's a miracle
Here in this hand I hold
Here in this band of gold
How even the silence seems to say more than enough
It's a miracle, my love, miracle, my love
It's a miracle, my love, miracle, my love
The lyrics of Ron Sexsmith's song "Miracles" are truly poetic and deep. The first stanza speaks of how miracles are all around us, disguised as everyday reality. It talks about the stars in the sky and our own shadow, which are both miracles in their own way. The love of the singer is also called a miracle, which could mean that it is something that exists beyond what is rational or expected.
The second stanza speaks about how even in a jaded and cynical world, miracles continue to happen. The singer and the person they are addressing know that there is so much more to life than what meets the eye. The line "there's so much to dream of" implies that there is more to life than just the mundane, and that even dreaming of the impossible is a miracle in itself.
The third stanza talks about how a simple song can change everything. It can uplift your spirits, make everything seem okay, and make everything possible. It speaks of how even in silence, a lot can be said, similarly implying that miracles can happen in even the smallest moments of life.
Overall, the song is about how miracles are all around us, even in the most mundane or negative situations. It speaks about love being a miracle and how dreaming of more is a miracle in itself. Through the power of music, silence, and observation, miracles can be found in the everyday.

Today, September 1, 2017 is the first anniversary of the autologous stem cell transplant that helped save my wife's life. Amazingly and thankfully, one year later, she is still cancer free. She had been diagnosed with Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma, Stage IV, and now is in the category of cancer survivor.
I clearly remember posting "Miracles" by Ron Sexsmith on the morning that were getting ready to leave for my wife's first chemotherapy treatment.
I don't imagine that Ron envisioned that kind of application for "Miracles" when he wrote it, but whenever I hear the song, I know what it means to me.
