In 1958 the band again changed their name, along with a few changes of personnel. The band was now known as Ronnie and the Red Caps. At this point, Padavona began singing, replacing de Wolf. Musci also left the band, and a new guitarist, Dick Botoff, joined. The Redcaps lineup released two singles: "Lover" b/w "Conquest" (with De Wolf on vocals on the A-side) on the Reb label, and on Seneca (S 178-102, USA), 'An Angel Is Missing' with 'What'd I Say' on the B side (both songs featuring Ronnie Dio on vocals).
In 1961 they changed their name to Ronnie Dio and The Prophets. (Presumably, this is also the first time Padavona began using the pseudonym "Dio"). The Prophets lineup lasted for quite a long time and produced several singles and one album. Some sources state that some of the single releases would've been made by Ronnie James Dio solo, but others, such as Dio himself, state that all of the singles were made as a band. The band ended in 1967, when Dio and Pantas continued on in a new band called The Electric Elves.
Don't Take Your Love from Me

That′s if I had a castle
And I'd miss it just for a while
You could take my treasure
That′s if I had a treasure
And I'd face poverty with a smile
But there's one thing I ask of you
One thing you must never do
Tear a star from out the sky
And the sky feels blue
Tear a petal from a rose
And the rose weeps too
Take your heart away from mine
Then mine would surely break
My life is yours to make
So please keep a spark away
Would you take the wings from birds
So that they can′t fly?
Would you take the ocean′s roar
And leave just a sigh?
All this your heart won't let you do
This is what I beg of you
Don′t take your love away from me
Would you take the wings from birds
So that they can't fly?
Would you take the ocean′s roar
And leave just a sigh?
All this your heart won't let you do
This is what I beg of you
Don′t take your love away from me
Oh my darling don't take your love from me
The lyrics of "Don't Take Your Love From Me" by Ronnie Dio and the Prophets express the singer's fear of losing the love of their significant other. The song draws several comparisons between the love of the singer and other things that cannot be taken away without causing pain. For example, the lyrics state that even if the singer's castle, treasure, and wealth were taken from them, they could manage with a smile. However, the one thing that they cannot bear to lose is the love of their significant other. The singer implores their partner not to take the love away from them, saying that taking their heart away would surely break their own heart.
The song's metaphors convey a message that love is precious and essential, just like the stars in the sky and the petals on a rose. The singer reasons to their partner that they would not take the wings from birds, making them unable to fly, or silence the ocean's roar, leaving just a sigh. The lyrics express that despite the singer's willingness to part with almost anything, they would not be able to bear the loss of their significant other's love. The singer pleads with their partner, asking them not to take their love away from them.
