In 1958 the band again changed their name, along with a few changes of personnel. The band was now known as Ronnie and the Red Caps. At this point, Padavona began singing, replacing de Wolf. Musci also left the band, and a new guitarist, Dick Botoff, joined. The Redcaps lineup released two singles: "Lover" b/w "Conquest" (with De Wolf on vocals on the A-side) on the Reb label, and on Seneca (S 178-102, USA), 'An Angel Is Missing' with 'What'd I Say' on the B side (both songs featuring Ronnie Dio on vocals).
In 1961 they changed their name to Ronnie Dio and The Prophets. (Presumably, this is also the first time Padavona began using the pseudonym "Dio"). The Prophets lineup lasted for quite a long time and produced several singles and one album. Some sources state that some of the single releases would've been made by Ronnie James Dio solo, but others, such as Dio himself, state that all of the singles were made as a band. The band ended in 1967, when Dio and Pantas continued on in a new band called The Electric Elves.
Follow Me

The way you ran behind me
Your plans to marry me some day
The love you gave so blindly
But you were like a sister
And three or four years younger
But then the boys had noticed you
Am I so blind oh not to see?
I wish again that you would follow me
My friends began to call you
I should have paid attention
I thought you were a little girl
Not old enough to mention
Had I been blind oh not to see?
I wish again that you would follow me
Now I've lost you forever
'Cause pride has kept me quiet
I should have asked for your love
But was too proud to try it
Yes I was blind oh not to see
I wish again that you would follow me
Follow me, run, run, run around
Follow me, run, run, run around
Follow me, run, run, run around
Follow me, run, run, run around
The lyrics to Ronnie Dio and the Prophets' song "Follow Me" describe a man reflecting on a past love that he let slip away. The first verse reminisces about the love that the woman gave so selflessly, but the man was blinded by the fact that he perceived her as just a little sister. However, as time goes by, the boys begin to notice her, and the man realizes his error in judgment. He wishes that he could turn back time and ask her to follow him.
In the second verse, the man laments that his pride kept him from pursuing her. He missed his chance for love because he didn't want to risk rejection. Now he has lost her forever. The chorus repeats the phrase "follow me" as a plea to the lost love to come back to him, to "run, run, run around" with him.
The lyrics are a poignant representation of a moment in time when pride got in the way of connection and love. The man in the song is asking for a second chance and realizing the value of love that he had previously taken for granted.
