Lasting Light
Ronski Speed Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Then sleepwalk back into their world
Time won't ever silence the haunting
The dream won't leave until it's heard
You know we're waiting
Don't keep us waiting for you
Leave those shadows crawling behind you
With all those bridges that you burned
Don't keep us waiting for you
You know we're waiting
We're the ones who chase the sun across the sky
To feel the lasting light
To feel the lasting light
And we leave it all behind in sacrifice
To feel the lasting…
The lyrics to Ronski Speed feat. Emma Hewitt's song Lasting Light can be interpreted in a few different ways, but at its core, it seems to be about the struggle to let go of the past and move forward. The singer seems to be addressing someone who is staying up all night, unable to escape the memories that haunt them. The dreams that come to them won't leave until they're acknowledged, and the singer urges them to face them head-on and leave the shadows and bridges they've burned behind.
The chorus is both hopeful and melancholy, as the singer expresses their longing for something more, something that feels like "lasting light." This could refer to a lot of different things - love, happiness, success, enlightenment - but whatever it is, it's something that they're willing to make sacrifices for. The "we" in the chorus could be a reference to a community of people who are all seeking the same thing, or it could simply be a way of saying "all of us who are searching for something better."
Overall, the song seems to be about the power of hope and the strength it takes to keep moving forward, even when the past and all its hurts threaten to hold us back.
