1) Root is a Czech metal legend from city of Brno founded in 1987 by Big Boss and Blackie. Root was one of the original pre-second-wave black metal bands, following in the footsteps of Bathory and Venom, while taking the genre in a more refined, less savage direction. Their style has since progressed towards a more epic, dark heavy metal sound with a clean-sung vocal approach, but their music can still be recognized as black metal at its core due to the unchanged ideology of the band. After the album Madness of the Graves (2003), Blackie left Root to concentrate on his band Cales. Blackie also played in side-project Entrails, an old school black-thrash metal band.
2) Root was the name of a Polish grunge band
3) Root is an Australian country rock band.

Root Lyrics

I see a shape - or is that a mere hallucination? -
As rocking on me and from their eyes trickle the bloody tears,
I hear a whisper of lifeless lips, it calling me on into the depth,
I am going away with it, awake in the empire of dead,
I hear words, out of one's graves arising a legends of dead dreams,
listen in with me to tales, which once were truth
The opening lines of Root's song "Omen" describe a scene of eerie mystery and hallucination. The singer sees a shape, but cannot be sure if it's really there, and observes tears coming from the eyes of this phantom entity. The voice of the dead calls out to our narrator, beckoning them to join in the "empire of dead." The lyrics suggest a vision of the supernatural, with the dead rising from their graves to speak of their dreams and legends.
As the song progresses, the singer listens to the tales of these dead dreams and ancient myths. The lyrics are rich with symbolism and allegory, conveying complex ideas about the nature of life and death. The themes of the afterlife, resurrection, and the power of memory pervade the narrative, as the singer listens to stories of gods and men in the throes of existential struggle.
Overall, "Omen" is a haunting, evocative song, steeped in dark themes and mysterious imagery. It invites the listener into a world of dreams, myth, and the unknowable mysteries of the afterlife.
