A pesar de otros besos
Quizás Gwendoline
Aún recuerdes el tiempo
De aquel nuestro amor
Aún te acuerdes de mi.
Y aún recuerdo aquel ayer
Tu me hablabas del amor
Yopodía sonreir
Aún recuerdo aquel amor
Y ahora te alejas de mi.
Y aún recuerdo aquel ayer
Cuando estabas junto a mi
Tu me hablabas del amor
Y aún podía sonreir
Y aún recuerdo aquel amor
Y ahora te alejas de mi.
Le he pedido al silencio
Que me hable de ti
He vagado en la noche
Queriéndote oir
Y al murmullo del viento
Le he oido decir
Tu nombre... Gwendoline.
Tu nombre... Gwendoline.
The lyrics to Rosario's song "Gwendolyne" speak to a sense of longing and nostalgia for a lost love. The singer begins by acknowledging that despite being physically distant from their former lover, they still remember the past affectionately, perhaps indicating that there were subsequent relationships but none comparable to the one they shared with Gwendolyne. This distance is emphasized by the mention of other kisses, suggesting that while the singer has moved on, the memory of Gwendolyne remains poignant.
The second verse expands on the memories of their time together. The singer recalls how Gwendolyne would speak of love, and during that period, they were able to smile. This highlights the joy and happiness they experienced in the relationship, underscoring how much they cherished it. However, they also recognize that those romantic moments are now in the past, and Gwendolyne is gradually drifting away from them.
The third verse delves deeper into the singer's feelings of loss and longing. They confess to seeking solace from silence, hoping to hear any mention or indication of Gwendolyne's presence. They wander through the night, yearning to listen out for any signs of her. The mention of the wind's murmurs suggests the singer's desperation to catch any hint of Gwendolyne's name. The repetition of "Tu nombre... Gwendoline" underscores their longing, as if saying her name could somehow bring her back or make the pain more bearable.
Overall, the lyrics of "Gwendolyne" convey a sense of longing, nostalgia, and unrequited love. The song captures the emotional journey of someone who still holds memories dear, even as their beloved grows more distant. It speaks to the universal experience of holding onto cherished relationships and the struggle to let go when they can no longer be sustained.
