Why Can't It Be Christmastime All Year
Rosie Thomas Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's our favorite time of year
Our friends are back in town
Christmas songs keep playing on the radio
String popcorn on a string
And wrap the tree around
And put that fire out, 'cause Santa's comin' out

Quit your stalling
Snow is falling
Friends are calling
You! You!
Raise your hand if
You wish it was
Christmastime all year
We do! We do! We do!

It's a happy time of year
There's joy around the world
So hang that mistletoe and grab your favorite girl
Sing carols by the fire
Our family and our friends
Later we'll make New Year resolutions we'll forget

(Children playing
Santa sleighing
I can hardly stand the waiting
Better stop that misbehaving)
Christmas is my favorite time of year
(You can hear carolers singing
Deck the halls, the bells are ringing)
Why can't it be Christmastime all year?
So quit your stalling
Snow is falling
Friends are calling
You! You!
Raise your hand if
You wish it was
Christmastime all year
We do! We do! We do!

So wrap those presents
Fill those stockings
Love from me to you
To you! to you!
So grab your winter
Scarves and mittens
Build a snowman too
Whoo, whoo
So trim that tree and
Let's go sledding
Who has Christmas cheer?
We do! We do! We do!

Christmas is my favorite time of year
Why can't it be Christmastime all year?

I work in retail so I passionately hate Christmas music, but for some reason I like this song. I think its because its not overly cheery like the traditional Christmas songs. Also I get this sappy tone from this song, like the person doesn't get to be with her family/friends all year except for a few holidays, and after a long and crappy year, Christmas is perfect because its full of the small things that bring happiness.

Great Sound to it. I work retail and is caused me to dislike this part of the year. Early mornings and late nights suck.
