Let’s just all accept the fact that Rozalin is a talented dancer and she just went all in on that moment in her life that she have been waiting to happen. Even though she didn’t do proper waacking. We can’t deny the fact that she is amazing, her charisma is overflowing and you can see her passion on her eyes. She really did wowed us all. It doesn’t necessarily mean that if you’re the teacher or you’re more experienced, you will always win. We all know for a fact how professional and talented is Lip J. But we should Atleast also acknowledge Rozalin’s talent in this battle. You can see how she really waited for that exact moment to happen, she cried after their battle. Both of them are amazing and talented. But in that battle someone should stand out than the other in order to win, and like what one of the judges said, Rozalin’s character in that battle standed out more and very overwhelming. But that doesn’t make her better than Lip J.

@eemia ey idk abt that but as a viewer, i dont feel good or excited watching lip j bc in here, shes too mad. I dont think technical is that important if i dont feel comfortable watching it. This is a battle which means energy is heavily influence in the result. I feel rozalin's energy throughout her dance and she seems calm about it. As a viewer, thats just how i feel.

@Yellow Official this battle didnt count past experience. I know lip j is veeeery good, but her emotion got in the way in this battle. Rozalin win fair and square. If lip j didnt feel too mad unnecessarily she can definitely win. Also we didnt know what is happening between the two and whos in the fault here. So we dont have a say in their issue. I can see that rozalin just wanted lip j's approval but lip j got angry instead and look at her murderously.

the raw aura of both women silently attacking each other felt almost congesting it was incredible. However, I saw a breakdown of their battle through another famous K dancer and he expressed slight frustration of how in terms of Waacking, it was very clear who the teacher was and who the student was. He explained how the culture of Waacking was being miscommunicated. It still bugs me what sort of judges were brought onto this scene.. If they brought on professional dancers who was ranged in a variety of dance styles we could've gotten more interesting feedback and critiques. All of this aside I still adore this show

@Cara Peregrine see? through fan or normal people perspective, we just look at the "energy" (as you say), as a result, bigger movements > technique or intricacies within the dance art. that's why there's a need for judges to give professional critique and explanation towards us, who don't understand it. Dance is one of those things. I did ballet for a very long time, a normal person from the audience probably couldn't tell the intricacies of ballet posture, and they probably wouldn't have noticed if I made a wrong move or sickled my foot or something, but a ballet teacher and professionals in that area would correct me and judge me with other students. What's the point of doing a show where contestants are being RANKED on their dance skills if all the judges are going to focus on is the "energy" of a piece? I just actually want to learn about the intricacies of waacking and their performances and not go off of "who was the loudest? Who had the best energy?" type thing.

@Cara Peregrine legendary Street dancer, J black said that Lip J should have won not because Lip J was a teacher but because Lip J is just another level. I saw 5 other professional, street dancers reviewed this battle, (one of them was Wacking dancer) all said hands down Lip J should have won. You can have your own opinion. I am just delivering professional level opinion coz three judges from the show are experienced dancer but none of them are battlers

One of professional dancer who reviewed the battle gave a very good break down. He goes "If you ask Lip J to do R's movements, I bet L could easily do all the movements as well as R but if you ask R to do L's movements, R wouldnt be able to nail all the movements like how L did."

@Good Things literally none of the judges have any experience in street dancing/battling, and the only non-contestant who does is actually Daniel (LMAO). Sure they may be great dancers but that doesn't qualify them for being great judges. this entire show is just based on ratings and not evaluating dance. that's why someone like taeyong were judges and contestants when they had no experience street dancing, to bring in viewing. (no hate to taeyong I love his dance, but he's basically only been in commercialized sort of dance stuff) Literally how do you manage to equalize the judges with zero experience in battling with actual dancers in waacking and dance battles?

@Ashanti Barnes I agree that it's subjective and I respect your opinion, but the song that are played in lip j solo and battle aren't that upbeat compared to rozalin, in terms of technicality, difficulty, cleanliness and musicality, lip j ate, but rozalin is also great,,,, its just like the match between aiki and gabee where gabee won because of energy but make rozalin's movement cleaner

Lip j is amazing but Rozalin did steal the show with not only her moves but her energy and attitude throughout it she might not be the best but she’s definitely good at it especially for someone who didn’t practice it in 6 years !. Also I think peoples preference on if they like fast wacking or slow wacking plays a big part. So in my opinion Rozalin definitely took the stage for this one!!!

Exactly! With fast waacking, it's easy to hide the flaws because the illusion of spinning hands is what people would see. Slow waacking is harder because you can see everything. That's why I don't get impressed these days by fast waackers, and for me Lip J still has the best form and technique I've ever seen even compared to Ibuki or Yoon Ji.

Rozalin had a more impactful peformance which, whether people like it or not, is one of the biggest deciders in a dance battle. If it was always based solely on whose more skilled it might as well become a sport and not an art of sorts. For example, Gabee's showmanship in her battles can win battles alone (although she's got the skills to back it up) and when Zsun fell over Yell and recovered, everyone in the room could tell it was over from then. And I mean, for god's sake, if dance isn't meant to entertain the audience what's it meant to do?

On another note, this shit hella subjective and differs from person to person ~ anyone who says there was a 'clear' winner are out of their minds imo. I must disclaim I am a massive Lip J fan, but I wanna acknowledge Rozalin cos I really think she pulled through in this battle by an inch for me. I don't think the judge's choice was wrong and if they had chosen Lip J it wouldn't have been wrong either. This idea does not compute for some people but I hope they can try and understand what I mean by how dance is a subjective art form, not an objective skilled-based point tally.

Also, real quick, people really out here saying Rozalin shouldn't of won cos she did faster waacking whereas Lip J did slower, controlled waacking when they legit had different songs???? Of course she wouldn't take a slow and controlled approach with that first song?? It's all about matching the performance to the rhythm.

Ever since 2016, even from the battle, you can tell how the swf dancers are judging her. Rozalin put so much effort to impress her but Lip J did not care, Lip J couldn't focus she had lot of emotions..

Actually no-one knows what happened between the two, no even dancers, but because of the rumours they didn't want to work with Rozalin because of her relationship with Lip J. All the dancers and other genres blamed her, which sad, and they still blame her and judge her!

Waacking dance is about expressing music, lyrics and the instruments with your body. Arms movements r usually the preferred base for waacking technique. It is honestly sad that Lip J’s technique is being said to be less catchy and expressive when it’s not, what Lip J is doing here is the real waacking. There is consistency in her arm movements across the counts, she is controlling the speed and the textures to match music while keeping her posture & identity as a dancer intact.

I am sorry but a lot of Rozalin’s freestyle moves look straight up copy from Ibuki Imata. But I guess it’s ok cause most new gen waackers copy her style to learn. But what bugs me is that not only is Rozalin showing no versatility in technique, she doesn’t have any identity as a dancer here. She is just using medium & large waacking movement & adding a little grace at transition which looks broken honestly and doesn’t establish her style. Also her musicality is practically neutral here.

It honestly makes me very uncomfortable to see the results. I guess I shouldn’t expect idols to give any good judgement tho, when their own basics and understanding of dance is based on what looks marketable rather than expressing oneself.

Wdym idols, taeyong is the only idol there and the other experienced choreographer choose rozalin as the winner too. Boa chose lip j. Idk why but i think a lot of people took this battle too seriously bc its abt a teacher's pride (?) I feel like a lot of choreographers out there are triggered that a teacher didnt win so they make a review abt it. Yes i respect those opinions, theyre definitely a professional dancers and i understand why they think lip j is the winner. but dont take it too seriously. Those 3 judges have their own opinion and their opinion matters. Also another fun fact, throughout chaeyeon's battle, taeyong never choose chaeyeon as the winner, which also means that he definitely is not biased at all. It is from his knowledge and opinion abt dance and i respect it, eventhough he's not professional, i think as a dancer and choreographer himself, his opinion definitely matters.

@Minnie that’s like saying during a cooking competition, both contestants chose to make pasta. Lip J made incredible, classic, al dente pasta where the ingredients shone. The other girl’s pasta was overcooked and mushy, but had pretty decoration. The judges pick the pretty pasta because they’re not Italian and don’t pick based on who made the best pasta…? @Z exactly, the dancers chose to go with a waacking battle, but that is not officially decided by the judges. regardless of what they chose, the judges have a pre-established standard on how to choose the winner and are not obliged to judge by waacking standards. if this was a waacking battle, it's lip j's win for sure. but it's not :)) so it's up to the judge panel's discretion

Simeez and kayday are really close to Rozalin, they have known each other way before. If you noticed kayday and Simeez did not comment about the battle except that she is really angry and scary, even Peanut commented that Rozalin was not discourage, which made me to think that Rozalin wanted to impress Lip J. Also, Monika commented about manners, which means that Rozalin has always been respectful. Some of Lip J students do not follow monika, so, in some way Rozalin is telling the truth. When I see the unedited version, Lip J's moves definitely looks very clean. But you gotta admit Rozalin got precisely quick moves and kinda does it non stop whereas Lip J is more delicate.

Both Lip J and Rozalin win this match. Her student wins. It's her win too in a way.

Professional dancers in korea who reviewed the battle said that exactly why Lip J should have won. According to them, anybody can achieve fast movements like Rozaline by practicing but having clean, elegant movements and music interpretation like Lip J is another level.

Idk why people are calling Rozalin innocent when so many dancers have attested to her bad behaviour. Specifically, the veteran ones. Lip J not following her back while Honey J and Rihey have already reconnected. Some people only like her because of her pretty face. In waacking, there are multiple instruments that you can literally embody and show through your movements and Lip J was focusing in one of those (more than the beat that an average ears like yours can catch). And please, don't embarrass yourself here. If Lip J can beat tough monstrous waackers like Ibuki, Calin, Mizuki, and Yumeki, Rozalin is nothing to her. I don't hate Rozalin, I hate the judges for not seeing REAL waacking through Lip J's seamless attacks.

I think that's the reason why she won this battle. Her energy and creativity moves beat lipj's. Anyway both of them are great and deserve to win this battle. I respect your opinion

i know rozalin did appeal a bit more bc she had a lot of variation and we werent used to her waccking, but lip j was the waacker of the show. Rozalin also played with a lot of levels and the beat too (i know lip j did too) but I guess thats why i do prefer her here

Lip J herself is a very tough person to battle with even in the world of waacking and she doesn't easily lose even against Ibuki, Calin, Waackxxy, and all those international waackers from the West. Even Peanut feared her so much. THEN she lost here, to her former student at that, just because the judges don't know how to judge a waacking battle. Lip J said in the commentary she is CONFIDENT she won this because she already calculated Rozalin's move by waacking standard as an experienced judge and as a battler here.

I very much agree that lip J is ofcourse more skilled and talented in terms of Waacking, and the variety she showed also was impressive, even if Rozalin isn’t as skilled as her, she caught a lot of attention. Even if her moves were simple, when she did it in her own way it looked so much more colourful. I personally liked Rozalin’s performance but I understand why people are rooting for Lip J. At the end of the day, both of them are really good dancers and let’s respect and not throw hate.

actually, a lot of teams cheered for rozalin but it's the editing that made it seem like the groups only cheered for lip j. wayb and ygx cheered for rozalin and it was clear, especially when lip j did the split and rozalin did that one move, you can see wayb shocked and cheering for rozalin and in the end, a generous amount praised rozalin too.

I guess the reason why they put taeyong there is probably to gain audience from the Kpop fandom which (is kinda) absurd. I adore BoA but I do think she is not suitable to be a judge as well. It should have been dancers like Lia Kim (1 million studio) or even Monika (from the Proudmon) who have 'legit' experience in the dancing community.

I'm still pissed over the fact that Lip J lost here, and the judges as well. I mean its quite understandable if mnet wanted to invite idols as judges of dance performances. However, idols that have no experience in battles aren't qualified to be judges of a dance battle consisting of battle legends! They don't know the criteria on how to judge a dance battle, like they kept on saying "energy" "predicting movements" etc as their judging base and I find that ridiculous! But at the end of the day, it's not their fault, Mnet should've done more research and invited high quality judges to judge high quality contestants :(

In my opinion I think lip j lost here. Yes she’s very detailed and great at it but I couldn’t take my eyes off of rozaline the whole time because she stole the show and made the stage her own!. Also you can see that rozaline intimidated lip J a bit. I think lip j definitely won against peanut but in this battle we have to give it to rozaline sometimes detailed isn’t always the best and that’s ok lip j still did great!

We all know Lip J the Queen of waacking won even Rozalin knows that thats why she cried. She knows if this battle was at a real dance scene and have actual waackers judge she would have lost but because these judges barely know anything about waacking which shows by their decision she was able to win. At least BOA seem to know what she was doing.This is what happens when you have judges that have never been active in the dance community and have never had an actual street dance battle. There shouldn't even be a tie braker Lip J smoked her in the 1st round. Bruh this show is joke but what do you expect its an entertainment show. Lip J lost because the judges didn't know any better. I watched other professional dancers review this battle and none of them thought Rozalin would win this battle. J-Black, a famous street dancer/choreographer, said that Lip j should've won the first round. Rozalin was energetic but her waacking isn't as polish as it seems to be. Meanwhile, Lip J had the perfect amount of groove, high level of musicality, and flawless execution. The judges don't know that because they aren't waackers and have a wrong notion that fast arm movement = good waacking.

If this is like a wacking competition I mean all dancers must do wacking and then judges are also have experienced in wacking then no doubt its lip j to win ,but this is a underdog battle where in you need to show everything that you have . On a underdog battle rozalin make catchy and memorable moves than LIp J., Im not saying lip j is not good, she did great , She actually has a smooth moves ,it’s just that Rozalin looks so stunning and catchy with this battle. I love all the group, i hate how producers edit the show and i dont like the judges. Imagine world class dancer judge by idols whose choreography are made by them but its all good now the groups got the recognition they needed ❤️ and if there is season 2 i wish that mnet will cast any leader of this group as a judge. yeah i think rozalin deserves to win this one too, personally of course in the technical aspects lip j defo won but since rozalin has a charisma it attracted the judges, so unless the judges are actual professionals who actually evaluates dance techniques they won't notice lipj since they look to the one with more charisma like how for example in a dance group you won't notice other technically better dancers at the side when the one dancing front and center have overwhelming charisma right ? so rozalin is probably playing by the judges too

So many people praising Rozalin here and that all the rumors about her are lies such as bad mouthing Lip J but idk if those “rumors” are still lies after rozalin scamming a student 🤧 I know she apologized and all and it’s all good but that kinda proves that she has problematic behavior indeed in the past

of course because she's a human being. there's nothing wrong if you are a problematic person in the past, there is something wrong if she's still problematic in the present. remember that our past self doesn't define us who we are in the present. rozalin had a character development and again, there's nothing wrong with that.
