1) RUIN were hardcore punk rock contemporaries of the 1980s. This was the band that used the name originally. They toured the continental U.S.A. They were acknowleged by Leonard Cohen in SPIN for covering his "Master Song." Maximum Rock'n'Roll ran a feature interview with the band and covered their performances and releases. They contributed to compilation albums and Ruin's vinyl releases of that time, "HE-HO" and "Fiat Lux" were later compiled for a CD reissue in 1996 titled, "Songs of Reverie and Ruin." This stimulated a brief reunion during 1996-1997, which resulted in a performance as the headling act at the Trocadero in Philadelphia. Recordings still show up on ebay from time to time. They formed their original lineup in early 2005 as a three piece; including Richard Carey (Guitar/Vocals), Craig Carey (Drums) and Ken Vought (Guitar). Kevin Whitman (bass) joined the lineup in the summer of 07 at the Hands of Enmity CD release party.“Hands of Enmity” is a raw selection of songs that range from speedy, thrashing madness to melodic guitars with soulful leads. Although Ruin is a newer band on the scene, they continue to gain new fans at every show and are constantly expanding, catching the attention of local radio stations and playing opening slots for the incoming national metal bands. Part of the issue is that these puzzles are sort of “out of order” since horizon is an open world game. The game can’t “build up to these puzzles” beforehand like a linear game

There is another easier way. After getting the second crate or box out - go to the valve and pull out the first crate to drain the water. Then easily move the second crate. Flood the area again by blocking the drainage with first crate. Easy peasy 👍🏻

You? Shit man I was in here finding a way to stack the crates by carefully lining them up and pulling 1 out from the drain so it was under the other floating one just to realize I never needed to stack them in the first place. Makes you feel dumb when you see how easy it really was the whole time.

Get the second crate out and then go back into the valve room where the first crate is. Make sure to turn off the valve, after that you can use the pullcaster to take the box out. Water level will lower, then you can go position the second box. Once that's in place, go back to valve room, turn it back on, put crate back and you're good to go. Getting onto that ledge just to pull the box is a pain.

Used this guide to reach the lore scannable after finding a sequence break method to reach the relic: Use a launch jump from any of the grapple points to glide to the top of the broken stairs/escalator in the room. Then hop onto the handrail. With good timing, there's just enough space to getting a running jump and glide over to the climbing markers to get to the relic without ever messing with the crate.

The only thing I actually needed from this, was to realize that I needed to pull the box out of the drain so that I could reach the valve. I figured out the rest myself. I have rarely felt so dumb.

Wow....had no idea you had to plug the drain. Turned on the water and was looking everywhere to see if anything changed but nothing till drain got plugged. Reminds me of the ruin where i had no idea Aloy was strong enough to knock down trees

Once you get the second crate, you can unplug the first crate. And then move the second crate on dry land, so you don't need to use ropecaster to pull the crate. Once the second crate is in position, you plug the water drain again. This save me a little bit of time.

This is the hard way. All you have to do is drain the water again and move the crate by hand. Then plug the drain again

@Alex Babyfella Actually, you “can” remove it again. You have to stand up top by the shutoff valve and use your pullcaster to pull the crate away from the drain. Speaking from experience.

Or another easy way after you pulled the 2nd crate out. Go back to the valve and pull the first crate out to drain, then just push it out to the edge of where you’ll drop the 2nd crate, it’ll automatically stack the 2nd crate on top of the 1st one when you dropped it down. And just push 2 stacked crates to the other side to climb up the floors.

I blocked the drain before jumping up and opening the valve and now I can't move the crate to get up.

Edit: for those who ran into the same problem you can pull it back out with the pull caster, just can't grab it by walking up to ut

Last pull to the final place for the second box can be done from on top of the railing instead of trying to get on the little ledge in front of it.

Man I did this puzzle the weird way. I was able to stack the 2 crates because I thought that was needed for this puzzle. I lined the 2nd crate next to the first crate that was blocking the water. I positioned myself on the platform next to the valve and pullled the first crate and it stacked with the 2nd crate which was floating. After that, I blocked the water again (now with 2 stacked crates) and went to the ornament. I was able to climb the exact location of the ornament without the crate because I used both of the crates (stacked to each other) to block the water. Wtf???

You don't actually need the last box if you're standing on the ledge of the polar to get up to then get the relic.

That last jump point was tricky. Had to stand on the railing to pull the box the last piece of the way. There was no space to stand in front of the rail for me.

I was level 45 by the time I finally got access to the metal flowers. These relic ruins are just a chore at this point

I came to this video to see what the key unlocked because I was able to get the Orb without using any boxes or turning the valve. If you go to the 2nd level where the first box is and jump slightly over the rail and jump on the pillar below the 3rd floor hanging point, then quickly jump to get the bottom ledge of the 3rd floor hanging point to grasp, you can then climb your way up and grab the Orb without doing any flooding or key grabbing.

However, I noticed after getting the Orb and you decide to flood the room to get the key, the door will not open. I am assuming this is a glitch because you got the Orb before doing the intended strategy.

I somehow managed to climb to the top and get the relic first. Had to reload an earlier save as I couldn't get the key/datapoint any longer as building refused to flood even with the crate blocking the drain🤦‍♂️

I did exactly the same thing haha. This ruin was so poorly designed. Why would the devs think "Yeah, they'll know to plug the drain with this box that doesn't even cover the whole grate. That totally makes sense. They wont assume it's something more reasonable."

I was so confused because I did the same thing to get the ornament but then, I used the key module anyways expecting some reward beyond the gate. The problem is that the gate doesn’t open if you solve the ruin jumping from the second balcony. I thoght the game had some bug but then, watching this video, I understood that all the job was done and that there was just a crate beyond the damn gate.

Flood it then when you unlock the second crate just unblock let the water drain. Move the second crate to the jump point then block the water again and voila. Climb up and get the ornament

OK, I couldn't get Aloy to stand on the outside of that rail where you were and then pull the crate from the side you had it on. So, it worked for me to leave the crate on the side that had the sort of spiral stairs and then pull it from the very corner. Even then, I had a very difficult time getting Aloy to stand on the outside of the rail. Someone else mentioned pulling the crate from out of the drain. I though of that, but I can't work my pullcaster underwater...

Actually….. I never did any of that. All I did was jump on the first crate and pressed O to push myself from the beam to the wall and climb . I came here because I was confused as of why the module wouldn’t open the door. I guess it’s because I don’t need the crate anymore. I was there wasting time for no reason when I had finished everything under 2 minutes, I thought there was something extra behind that door🤦🏻‍♀️

wait you were supposed to do all this...??!?! all i did was run up to that opening that you can see @ the 0:57 mark(above and to the right of the crate). there's a broken cement column below it(to the left) you can spring jump off that into that opening. crouch walk to the right. jump onto the next floor. keep walking to the right and you should notice the grips to climb up are right there on the middle pillar. jump over the railing, grab them, climb up, done.

Why would the developers think plugging the drain with a box that doesn't even cover the whole grate would be the thing we think to do? That's insane. It's a solution that doesn't make sense so why would we do it? I turned on the water and figured there would just be another room below me somewhere that the water would let me traverse differently by floating or something. Some of these puzzles are so poorly designed and it sucks that this one, and probably others, don't use the classical dev tricks like lighting used to draw your eyes into certain places as subconscious hints.

I just jumped off the railing underneath the hand holds leading to the relic. You don't even need the water.

I despised this puzzle, mainly because anytime I tried to do anything aloy would: jump in the water, fall into the water, which I then had to maneuver the clunky ass water controls to do, and it was just so, aloy refused to do what I wanted her too, always doing either too little or too much. I spent 10 minutes because aloy is fucking incompetent and refused to stand on ledges or decided to jump in the water when I tried to get her to stand on the crate or any other number of inane thigns

I didn't even need the second crate. I was in the process of trying to stand on that last platform for the last pull, but at the right angle Aloy will just jump up to the grapple point without the box. Then just climb up and get the ornament. Great video as always though. Thanks!!
