Crazy Love
Rusty Young Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Tonight I'm gonna break away
Just you wait and see
I'll never been imprisoned by
A faded memory

Just when I think I'm over her
And this broken heart will mend
I hear her name and I start to cry
The tears come down again

It happens all the time
This crazy love of mine
It Wraps around my heart
Refusing to unwind
Ooh-ooh, crazy love, ahh

Count the stars in a summer sky
That fall without a sound
And then pretend that you can't hear
These teardrops coming down

It happens all the time
This crazy love of mine
It wraps around my heart
Refusing to unwind
Ooh-ooh, crazy love, ah

Tonight I'm gonna break away

Overall Meaning

"Crazy Love" by Rusty Young is a heartfelt song that explores the complex emotions of love and heartbreak. The lyrics depict the struggle of trying to move on from a past relationship, only to be constantly reminded of the person and be overwhelmed by the pain of lost love. The singer expresses their determination to break free from the memories that haunt them, but ultimately finds themselves unable to escape the grip of their own emotions.

The opening lines, "Tonight I'm gonna break away, just you wait and see, I'll never be imprisoned by a faded memory," suggest a sense of optimism and determination to let go of the past. However, as the song progresses, the singer confesses that they still haven't fully healed from the heartbreak. The mention of hearing her name and starting to cry indicates that even the slightest reminder can bring back a flood of emotions.

The chorus, "It happens all the time, this crazy love of mine, it wraps around my heart, refusing to unwind," encapsulates the theme of the song. The "crazy love" described here is portrayed as both an intense and overwhelming force, as well as a source of continuous pain and longing. The line about counting stars falling without a sound and pretending not to hear the teardrops coming down adds a poignant touch, emphasizing the struggle to hide one's pain while still being deeply affected by it.

Such a huge loss. A truly gifted man with a voice that was gentle as was his music. He will not be forgotten. He is the LEGEND of Poco. Rest peacefully Rusty.

This one's going to take a while to sink in. I've never been able to make it through listening to this song without getting a little choked up and now it hits me right in the heart. Another icon is gone.

Kevin & I are stunned. It’s saw Poco at Iroquois Ampitheater in Louisville Ky on their Poco 7 tour. KEVIN HAS BOTH THE POCO HORSESHOE & Running Horse tattooed on his rib cage. ( how many groups have 2 badass logos?) WEVE prob seen Poco 7 or 8 times since last LP came out in 2013, I believe. And a strong case can be made that maybe this was the best Poco LP. WE LAST SAW THEM OCT 2019 in St Charles Mo., I believe. WE ALWAYS LOOKED FORWARD TO Thanksgiving cause we knew Rusty would always have a POCO CONCERT AROUND THAT TIME. WEVE DRIVEN AS FAR AS 5 hrs to see the band, so we still have those memories. We would like to offer our sincerest condolences to Mary & the family. I FORGOT TO MENTION HOW OUTSTANDING RUSTYS SOLO ALBUM WAS. IM GLAD HE HAD A CHANCE TO RECORD IT AND SHARE IT WITH ALL OF US. THIS REALLY HURTS. RIP Rusty: YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE IN A LOT OF LIVES AND CHANGED THE COURSE IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY. Our hearts are broken tonite😢
