Ryan was just 14 years old when he formed his first band called Stage. While still in high school the band played the CBGB's and the Mercury Lounge.
As Ryan grew older he decided to become known as the solo artist R. Star, releasing "Songs From The Eye Of An Elephant".
Ryan was one of the finalists on the CBS reality television show of the second season of Rock Star in July and August of 2006. The show is a talent show type reality show in which the band Supernova is looking for a lead singer to front their band. This show's producer and the drummer of the show is Tommy Lee. On the show, Ryan showed his diverse style from melodic and moving piano to rocking the Rolling Stones.
Ryan still performs in the NYC area with members from the group Stage.

I Will Survive
Ryan Star Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
All around
The city sleeps
Without a sound
Found my way
To higher ground
Taking it on to the other side
Yeah we got faith
And I believe there
Will be better days
We might die
But never fade
Taking it on to the other side
I will survive
And we get out of this alive
We're gonna light up the sky
Singin'
We're Keppin' On We're Keepin' on
I was high
In a daze
Sold my soul
For lemonade
Kingdom come
And set me free
I was blind but now I see
I will survive
And we get out of this alive
We're gonna light up the sky
Singin'
We're Keppin' On We're Keepin' on
I will survive
And we get out of this alive
We're gonna light up the sky
Singin'
We're Keppin' On We're Keepin' on
Keep Keeping on
Keep Keeing On
Ryan Star's "I Will Survive" is a song of hope and perseverance in tough times. The first verse sets the scene of the city sleeping and the lights going out. Despite this darkness, the singer is determined to find a way to higher ground and take on whatever challenges may come on the other side. The second verse tells of being lost and selling one's soul for "lemonade," perhaps an allusion to giving in to temptation and losing one's way. However, the singer sees the light and is now able to see clearly.
The chorus emphasizes the message of surviving and never giving up. The repetition of "We're Keppin' On We're Keepin' on" highlights the determination to persevere even when faced with obstacles. The line "I will survive" echoes Gloria Gaynor's famous song of the same name and reinforces the theme of overcoming adversity. The bridge adds a message of faith and style, suggesting that even in hard times, there can still be beauty and belief in a better future.
