His music combines acoustic instrumentation and arrangements with electronic and processed material, the results of which incorporate Minimalism, Ambient and Electro-Acoustic music. Ryan has released numerous albums and EPs on labels including Village Green, Sonic Pieces and Type Records. He also produces music and sound design for various Film & TV productions and has spent an extended period of time in Indonesia studying Javanese Gamelan Music.

Takes Steve Reich's Music for Mallet Instruments, Voices and Organ as its jumping off point. It's a bit more conventional, but has a winsomeness that makes one forgive him for leaning so heavily on an earlier work. Also, unlike the Reich, it doesn't try to create new sections, but is just an exploration of 1 texture and tonal area. Again, more conventional, but that's OK.
