Chove chuva
Sérgio Mendes Lyrics

Chove chuva
Chove sem parar

Chove chuva
Chove sem parar

Eu hoje vou fazer uma prece
Pra Deus, nosso Senhor
Pra chuva parar
De molhar o meu divino amor

Que é muito lindo É mais que o infinito
É puro e belo Inocente como a flor

Por favor, chuva ruim
Não molhe mais
O meu amor assim

Por favor, chuva ruim
Não molhe mais
O meu amor assim

Chove chuva
Chove sem parar
Chove chuva
Chove sem parar

Hoje eu vou fazer uma prece
Pra Deus, nosso Senhor
Pra chuva parar
De molhar o meu divino amor

Que é muito lindo
É mais que o infinito
É puro e belo Inocente como a flor

Chuva ruim
Não molhe mais
O meu amor assim

Por favor, chuva ruim
Não molhe mais
O meu amor assim

Hoje eu vou fazer uma prece
Pra Deus, nosso Senhor
Pra chuva parar
De molhar o meu divino amor

Que é muito lindo
É mais que o infinito
É puro e belo Inocente como a flor

Chuva ruim
Não molhe mais
O meu amor assim

Por favor, chuva ruim
Não molhe mais
O meu amor assim

Chove chuva
Chove sem parar
Chove chuva
Chove sem parar

Chove, chove, chove chuva
Chove sem parar
Chove chuva
Chuva
Chuva

Chuva, chove sem parar, ei, ei, oh oh

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66's song Chove Chuva (Rain is Falling) describe a lover praying to God to make the rain stop as it is continuously falling and wetting their "divine love." They describe their love as "more than the infinite," "pure and beautiful," and "innocent as a flower." The lover pleads for the "bad rain" to stop and not wet their love anymore so that they can be together without any hindrances.

The song's lyrics can be interpreted metaphorically as the "rain" being any obstacle or interference preventing the lovers from being together, and their prayer to God is a manifestation of their love and hope to overcome these obstacles.

The song's upbeat tempo and catchy melody make it a classic samba song. It was composed by Jorge Ben Jor and became a hit in Brazil in the 1960s. Its popularity grew beyond Brazil, reaching international audiences in the US, Canada, and Europe. The song was later covered by other artists, such as Herb Alpert, Al Jarreau, and Ivete Sangalo.

Lyrics:
Chove, chuva
Constant is the rain
Chove, chuva
Endless is the pain

As I stand here and remember
When once our hearts were one
And everyday was spring to me
Till you left and took away the sun
Now the days are lonely
The song of love is still
They say that I will forget you
But I say I never will
And it hurts with such a pain
To be alone and lonely in the rain
And it hurts with such a pain to be
Alone and lonely in the rain

Chove, chuva
Constant is the rain
Chove, chove, chove, chuva
Endless is the pain

This is true music that describes the innocence and mystery of love. This song captures the essence of honest passion and feelings. While other styles have declined, Sergio Mendes , Herb Alpert and the Brazilian beat will still endure. Peace from a senior music lover!

I haven't heard this song in 41 years and have gone on a wild goose chase trying to find it on here on You Tubem but could not remember the title or who sang it. I went to visit my Mother today and would you believe she was playing this song on her portable CD player and told me all about this masterpiece. Thanks for having it here on You Tube. Oh, I thank my Mom for playing this song, or I probably would have never heard it again. I like this song!!

As weird as this sounds, my cat would love when u sang this song. Perhaps it was the emotion I put into it but she would run from across the house, and sit in my lap and purr. She could be in he middle of doing something random and she would come next to me. This was one if my favorite so gs for a while. It was the cutest thing.

I recall buying this album and falling in love with Lani Hall's voice......

@quickworks9720

Her voice is so unique. Too bad she didn’t take off as a solo singer. I guess marrying Herb Alpert was enough.😊
