In March 2010 she released her debut EP Theater Island which was followed by her first full-length We Sink, released on September 2, 2011 - a pop record, that sounds like a dream: sweet and weird at the same time. Critical response was largely positive, with praise often aimed at the "delightful and beautiful" piano play and the delicate vocal delivery. The songwriting was also celebrated for its "dream-like" quality and "dark surrealism". Sóley herself described her lyrics as "Dreamy, surrealistic and in their own world", expressing her hope that listeners will decipher their own meaning from the words.
A piano album composed and performed entirely by Sóley, entitled Krómantík (Chrome Antiques), was released on 18 July,2014. Work is already underway on a second LP as well, which is to be released sometime in 2015. And Sóley hopes to tour the world after some planned appearances in Iceland Media and a music festival.
About Your Funeral

Remember what you said to her
Remember what you said to her
The story about your
I sat in the dark room playing that song you loved so much
The wind was blowing and the house was laughing
And the house was knocking on the living room's door
We were joined by the band, they played the harps and strings for us
Did you know that the story's true that I told you?
I know you told her
So I cross my fingers and hope for the best
We made you a song, it was about your funeral
We dressed you up and told you to come closer
Your family will take you
Your family will take you
Your family will take you
Your family will take you
Do you remember that girl who played that song for you?
We dressed her up in that yellow dress you gave her
Remember what you said to her
Remember what you said to her
The story about your
The story about your funeral.
Now you know the story is true that I told you
It's true we dressed you up and you came closer
Your family will take you
Your family will take you
Your family will take you
Your family will take you
You're right, we took you
You're right, we took you
You're right, we took you
You're right, we took you.
The lyrics to Sóley's song "About Your Funeral" are somewhat ambiguous, but seem to revolve around the themes of memory, loss, and grief. The song describes the singer's memories of a person who has passed away, including how they dressed them up in a yellow dress that was given to them, and a story that was told about them. The lyrics suggest that the person who has passed away was close to both the singer and other members of a band, who played a song for them and with whom they sang.
The lyrics also hint at the surreal quality of memories and the experience of grief. The wind blows and the house laughs and knocks, adding a touch of magic realism to the song. At the end of the song, the singer seems to be addressing the person who has passed away directly, saying that their family has taken them and confirming that the story they were told was true. The repetition of the line "your family will take you" emphasizes the inevitability of death and the separation it causes.
Overall, the song is a haunting and melancholy reflection on the passing of someone we love, and the power of memory and story to keep them alive in our hearts and minds.
